With this spirit, we are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer, required to work on Design/Certification and production support activities within the Engineering organization with main focus on engine components (I.e. Heat exchanger, Structures) designed using Additive technology (i.e. DMLM).

The successful Engineer will be working within Military Design Engineering section dedicated to Additive Design taking end-to-end design responsibility of the component by coordinating all activities aimed to test/verify design intent of the component as well as its certification and entry into service.
Due to nature of job, the successful Engineer will have the opportunity to develop very quickly a vast network across AvioAero as well as GE Aviation overarching several disciplines. You will be working with internal/external suppliers/functions (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, NDT specialists, Program) making sure the produced part is always aligned to the design intent and to certification requirements.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Capture system requirements, flow-down to components definition identifying relevant validation needs
  • Issue technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures (drawings, presentations as well as analysis reports)
  • Contribute and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews
  • Develop components and modules design to cost, performance and life objectives
  • Proactively support and coordinate activities with manufacturing departments and Suppliers to implement product improvements (eg concurrent design, cost-out activities).
  • Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessment
  • Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation)

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of designing component using DMLM technology
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX) is mandatory where CAE tools (e.g. Nastran, Ansys) is desired
  • Good knowledge of complex 2D and 3D shapes modelling CAD techniques
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical design (static, strength of materials, dynamics etc.)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities
  • Clear thinking, diligent approach, result oriented
  • Fluent English and Italian, both written and oral
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of aeronautical aero-engines component or module, technical requirements, design solutions, technologies
  • Experience in cost and value engineering
  • Previous experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction process
  • Experience on structure stress analysis
  • Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience
  • Curiosity and passion for mechanical design
