NVH Engineer

Brno, Czech Republic

The NVH Engineerwill be a member of the global team responsible for differentiation related to noise and vibration for Garrett's electric product portfolio. This engineer will partner with internal and external customers to ensure launches without noise issues on vehicle.

Key Job Areas of Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with electric motor design team to ensure NVH is accounted for in electromagnetic optimization process
  • Make proactive design recommendations to minimize component level noise radiation
  • Be responsible for performing NVH simulations, accounting for rotordynamic and electromagnetic excitation
  • Collaborate with electric powertrain team to setup NVH simulation models including gearbox and electric machines excitations
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of NVH measurements performed internally or by customer to diagnose noise and vibration issues
  • Be well versed with NVH generation mechanisms, potential corrective actions depending on nature of noise and make appropriate recommendations to product and application engineers to resolve the issue
  • Document best practices and mature internal databases to support quicker resolution of issues in future
  • Provide trainings to internal teams to improve their knowledge on fundamental of NVH and its application to electric powertrain
  • Educate customers on NVH of Garrett products in vehicle environment and importance of proactive noise management

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred, specialization in NVH, signal processing or related fields preferred

Experience

  • Working experience in NVH testing and analysis of electric machines, preferably for automotive applications

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of fundamentals of noise generation and perception and vibration transmission
  • Knowledge of electric machine and gearbox, electric powertrain fundamentals and their relation to NVH preferred
  • Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS), electromagnetic and gear transmission error simulations (MASTA) is preferred
  • Ability to perform noise and vibration testing and handling of data acquisition systems
  • Fundamentals of digital signal processing
  • Strong communication skills and must be a team player
  • Willingness to travel (mostly domestic)
