The Electrical Assembly Technologist is part of the global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team that execute the strategy and vision of Garrett product manufacturing defining the processes, methods, and standards applied across plants. In coordination with Engineering, Sourcing, and Plants, she/he develops the internal processes of Garrett electric products and drives Manufacturing Readiness Level score from ideation to PPAP (NPI Phase 0 to 5). As a subject matter expert, he/she assures flawless launch and focuses on standardization and robustness of design for manufacturing, to reduce the conversion cost of assemblies.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define Design For Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines for electrical assemblies and work with Product development teams to maximize DFM score
- At early development phase of products, be part of concept selection for manufacturability, ensuring maximum of standardization on product design
- Attend Component Roadmap Reviews with Product Engineering team to cascade down DFM rules & best practices
- Establish initial Risk assessment on new product Manufacturability, track progress and updates thru all NPI phases
- Attend first prototype build events and report manufacturing roadblocks and opportunities for product design improvements
- Ensure optimal conversion cost of assemblies to achieve required product function and reliability targets
- Cooperate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Process Leaders to define the equipments and processes for electrical assemblies
- Support development of specification book for new manufacturing lines introduction
- Responsible for providing technical expertise and support to global organization and customers on subject matter expertise
- Evaluate, recommend and implement new manufacturing technologies or upgrades to existing technologies
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting on issues
- Conduct research and analyze data to identify new trends and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and maintain documentation for technology systems and processes (Process Instructions, Quality Control Inspection)
- Drive on time publication of Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deliverables thru NPI Phase 1 to 6 in collaboration with AME Process leaders on any new technology introduction (lead application),
- Attend Phase Exits and Manufacturing Readiness Reviews with Product Engineering and Product Assurance
- Drive Make or Buy studies and summarize Manufacturing Plans (process flow, investments)
- Drive initial creation of Generic Process FMEA, evaluate risks and define action plan to reduce RPN scores
- Validate ODT & PPAP results

WE VALUE:
- Master in Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification minimum (Black belt preferred)
- Minimum 8 years of experience as Manufacturing engineer in companies building e-motors inverters, ECU or control units, control panels & boards, electric & electronic consumer products, robots, etc.
- Ability to develop an effective project plan and control strategy for his own work
- Knowledge on manufacturing processes: Assembly, Screwing, PCB assembly, Selective Soldering (iron, laser), Sintering, Bending and Cutting, Conformal Coating, PCB Cleaning, Resistance Welding, Adhesive Dispensing, Gluing, Adhesive curing, Electrical Testing, End of Line Testing, Traceability, Quality control, Digital Factory
- Flexiblity to travel up to 20% of working time
- English language - at least B2
- Effective communicator, able to drive and solve conflicting situations, problem solving & Lean mindset
- Ability to think critically and convert complex problems into actionable plans
- Ability to train others
