Role Purpose
The Senior Director of EMEA Technology provides leadership and vision for the EMEA technology function and is responsible for all aspects of Technology serving Funko’s EMEA business. This position leads the delivery of Global Application services, Digital Technologies, support and readiness of all systems to the EMEA business. The role is part of a Global team led from Everett, Washington.
 
This role reports into the Global Head of Technology who is based in Everett, Washington, USA and has a dotted line in to the Chief Commercial Officer / Managing Director - EMEA.

  • Display outstanding inspirational leadership for the EMEA Technology function and wider business, leading by example with exceptional professional behaviours, motivating teams to deliver to their full potential.
  • Working closely with, and under the guidance of the Global Technology Head to ensure effective and timely execution of all global Tech strategies and projects across the EMEA business.
  • Engage stakeholders across the enterprise to gain a strong understanding of business needs and deliver software applications that enable Funko business objectives.
  • Provide management, coaching and mentoring to create an environment which encourages accountability and strong staff development (conducting regular 1:1’s and Quarterly performance review discussions); manage the hiring, training, motivation, and retention of top talent.
  • In collaboration with business unit management and other Technology functional areas, assess feasibility, determine cost/benefits, prioritize projects, and develop and implement systems. 
  • Drive projects to successful completion by delivering on promised scope / functionality, resolving issues and conflicts with business / Vendor partners, hitting deadlines with quality deliverables. 
  • Responsible for managing relationships with our application vendors and other external consultants. Held accountable for hitting metrics associated with vendor performance.
  • In conjunction with the global Technology function, establish annual budgets and on-going forecasts for operational & project expenditures.
  • Ensure the operational performance, security, and reliability of application, digital and infrastructure services.
  • Be responsible for application compliance (SOX) and application security considerations.
  • Partner closely with HR when managing recruitment and people matters.
  • Ensure tech related processes and policies are effective and up to date and in line with Global framework / standards.
  • Be fully abreast of GDPR regulations, ensuring full compliance across the business.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge on best practices and upcoming programmes within information technology, sharing insight and providing training as needed.
  • Create a team environment that encourages innovation, collaboration and partnerships across the department globally.
  • Some travel (including international) may be required in this role.
 
What You’ll Bring:
  • Extensive combined experience in business application management (software development), digital technologies, business intelligence, infrastructure services (helpdesk, network, cloud, EUC etc) management, project management, process development and resource management.
  • Successful experience in leading in the EMEA region within a Global Shared Services IT organization is highly desirable.
  • Excellent people and relationship management skills, getting the full potential from your teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in the following areas: E-Commerce Platforms – Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – Microsoft D365.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or equivalent (MBA and/or Master’s Degree in Information Systems or related technical field is preferred).
  • Able to multi-task and juggle numerous demands.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a positive and proactive ethos; a highly self-motivated individual who accepts ownership and welcomes responsibility.
  • Demonstrated acumen and passion for both business and technology, including the latest digital innovations as they apply to the creation of business value.
  • Ability to step into projects already in progress and effectively assume a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of system architecture, technical design, and system and software development technology.
  • Proven track record in driving change and removing hurdles in a fast-growing organisation by working cross-functionally in a Retail and / or Wholesale consumer environment.
  • Proven internal and external influencing skills at senior and executive management levels.
  • Maintains focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate with impact to audiences of senior executives and regulators and to convey complex IT operations issues and their implications on the organization.
  • Exceptional ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Experience of operating within a SOX compliant environment
