In this position...
- The primary role and responsibility of the position is to develop data management processes and lead analysis of newly created emission component warranty dashboards to validate accurate warranty coverage.
- The engineer will also support early warning identification of potentially emerging emission component concerns and preparation of required government reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll do...
- Develop a process to validate accurate warranty coverage against emission warranty regulatory requirements, utilizing newly created Information Technology (IT) tools and Big Data analyses.
- Implement enhancements to the IT tools to improve efficiency of emission warranty parts review.
- Lead analysis of emission component warranty coverage data, review results with component engineers and provide recommendations to the Environmental Problem Review Committee (EPRC).
- Utilize early warning identification dashboard and EPRC related tools to analyze warranty trends for further investigation.
- Create Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Heavy Duty Emissions Investigation Reports.
- Support the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Emission Warranty Information Reports (EWIR) process.
- Prepare presentations for management reviews and participate in the EPRC core deliverables.
- Utilize new Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool in support of emissions component investigations.
- Improve and modernize EPRC processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
You'll have...
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Strong computer and data processing skills. Familiarity with analytical and productivity tools (e.g., Excel Macros, Alteryx, Databases, Power Automation, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) is desirable.
- Background in Qlik Sense dashboard interface and/or Simple Query Language (SQL)
- Effective technical (written and oral) communication skills
- Experience managing complex projects and applying project management skills
- Understanding of powertrain operating principles, emissions control and/or On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems preferred
- Desire to learn and apply regulatory requirements related to emissions and fuel economy
- Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and strong record of delivering results
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management
- Innovative solution-seeker, proactively finding novel ways to resolve complex or challenging problems
- Strong problem solving skills (e.g., root cause identification, prevent actions, 5D/14D)
- This is a Transitional Work Arrangement (TWA) position (prefer 80-90% work schedule).
