EMC Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll be able to do:

  • Support design of automotive electronics with a focus on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) using engineering principles. Apply best practices, lessons learned, and innovative design techniques to achieve a reliable product at a competitive cost.
  • Support design of circuit schematics and PCB layouts with an emphasis on EMC considerations using industry-standard tools.
  • Capture and codify lessons learned from EMC testing.
  • Collaborate frequently with other engineering teams and cross-functional team members to ensure seamless integration of all design aspects.
  • Participate in technical design reviews to ensure compliance with EMC and other design requirements.
  • Generate, check, and approve necessary engineering documentation and test plans required for EMC.
  • Document failure modes and provide feedback to improve design requirements.
  • Lead the resolution of functional abnormalities observed in module designs, particularly those related to EMC issues.
  • Ensure that lessons learned from Ford and industry standards are documented in the associated quality history.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in electronic circuit disciplines and processes.

Our Preferred Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in electronics circuit design and EMC testing, preferably in a high-reliability industry (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.).
  • Experience working with industry requirements standards such as: ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014, ECE Regulation 10.06, CISPR 16-1-1, CISPR 25, and ISO 11452-x specifications.
  • iNARTE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC/EMI) Certification.
  • Experienced working in Anechoic chambers and testing equipment.
  • Experience in trouble shooting transfer mechanism in E-Fields and H-Fields
  • Experience in specialized complex hardware and embedded software systems.
  • Familiar with automotive EMC requirements and good design practices for EMC robust design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals (e.g., globally distributed teams, ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience, work with all levels of management and diverse work groups, etc.).
  • Motivated and self-starter.
  • Collaboration and leadership skills.
