JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a new role in a newly-forming team, reporting to the LL2 Director of Global Branding. The Global Brand Creative Director will be responsible for taste making across the Ford brand and sub-brand design systems, distinctive assets and key branded touchpoints.

In this position...

They will oversee a creative collective of collaborating design directors across brand studio, digital design, facilities and other (currently) disconnected areas of the business. Together, you will drive shared cross functional branding solutions that will evolve the brand design system for Ford to meet its future. This should seek to create brand equity ladders between vehicles and master brand, adapt a flexible system across our full portfolio from ICE to EV and other propulsions, to our commercial division, to our integrated services and experience ecosystem. You will be comfortable managing teams and influencing change. And you will have experience operating to cut through creative complexity.

We're looking for a creative leader with the right combination of business acumen, tech-savviness and creative storytelling ability to play an essential role in building and shaping the Ford brand, the overall customer experience and how its story will be communicated to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Our ideal candidate must be a master problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset, proactively seeking out opportunities and developing innovative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll do...

  • Lead the evolution of the Ford design system and playbooks in line with our new brand strategy and architecture
  • Lead bespoke Ford sub-brand design systems
  • Deliver design and identity for Ford brands, sub-brands, distinctive assets
  • Oversee creative output for Ford Merchandising and Licensing (including DTC Retail)
  • Orchestrate central approach to branding and drive collaboration across multiple skilled designers sitting in different parts of Ford
  • Oversee Ford brand voice and sound design, working with our technical team
  • Develop nameplate branding
  • Push for creative and design excellence
  • Serve as the human taste maker for all things Ford-branded
  • Deliver a streamlined portfolio of brands and distinctive assets


QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...

  • Multi-award winning creative portfolio
  • Qualification from a top advertising school or creative institution (formal training in design)
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing / advertising content creation
  • 5+ years of experience in digital content creation
  • 5+ years of experience in a creative leadership role and managing a creative team
  • A deep understanding of design principles, visual aesthetics, and storytelling techniques

  • Multifaceted creative design experience across product, digital, services, experiences, and fashion apparel
  • Part purist, part pragmatist - someone who is willing to pick this work up and drive it to success with the team, however that needs to happen but who brings their subject matter to the opportunity
  • Someone who can find the right balance of educating the team and stakeholders and driving the opportunity forward
  • Strong opinions lightly held' and a great listener
  • An influence based, culturally engaged leader
  • Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, digital trends and philosophies in marketing, technology, interaction and social media
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative direction and timely, helpful feedback to improve creative processes and to keep work on budget/schedule; be aware of your deadlines and how to get there
  • Excellent oral and written presentation and communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs
