Associate Technical Writer

Finastra is seeking entry level Technical Writers with excellent oral and written English communication skills. This role is responsible for designing and writing documentation and preparing other training collaterals for our products.

The successful candidate must develop extensive knowledge of the company's products, processes and customer goals. Must be an abstract and creative thinker, capable of learning and summarizing complex concepts and issues. Must be highly organized and effective in both written and verbal communication.

Team

As an Associate Technical writer, you will work as an individual contributor as part of the Retail International Documentation team. This role reports into Manager - Documentation and works closely with other technical documentation writers as well as the product team.

Retail International suite of products

Our suite of award winning core banking solutions covers all aspects of banking - from retail, to corporate, to universal. Our solutions have the breadth of functionality you would expect for the most sophisticated banking requirements, leading with the Digital to the Core offering, Open APIs and platform. These cater to Banks and Financial Institutions across multiple segments, tiers and size.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Retail International Documentation team your responsibilities will include but are not limited to

1. Working with development teams, product managers and business centers to research, develop, write and maintain high quality product documentation and collaterals appropriate for its target audience.

2. Developing and maintaining easy-to-understand user interface guides, online Help, implementation and configuration manuals, procedure manuals, process documentation, release notes and other collaterals.

3. Preparing content in alternate media forms (e.g. Power point presentations, videos and other collaterals for maximum usability). These will be used to supplement the documentation.

4. Learning the product functionality through discussion with subject matter experts, personal use and experimentation.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented and can work well as part of a team

• Familiarity with Software development life cycle and associated documentation stages including defined documentation templates

• Ability to quickly understand technical and functional concepts and present them as easily comprehensible structured documents

• Evaluate current content and improve those through use of latest tools and techniques

• Take independent ownership of documentation-related projects

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of technical documentation experience that demonstrates excellent writing skills, preferably in financial industry domains

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer applications or Degree in English/Publishing/Content management

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office such as Word, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) is a must

• Demonstrated experience with Madcap Flare is a must

• Experience with FrameMaker and Robohelp/RoboHTM

• Experience using XML tools for documentation is preferred

• Certification through the society of Technical communicators and/or proven relevant experience in the industry
