The Role
The FI Organization is seeking a VP, Portfolio Strategist with proven subject matter expertise in capital markets, alternative products, and portfolio construction. We are looking for an experienced investor that is highly driven, easy to work with, and passionate about economics, capital markets and investment decision-making to help our most sophisticated advisory and institutional clients build better portfolios. We prefer candidates who were analysts or portfolio managers at our client firms and/or asset management firms.
- Deliver value to advisors and institutional clients as a subject matter expert on asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio construction.

- Become a trusted resource for CIOs and key investment decision makers and a critical input into the investment processes of Fidelity's largest RIA clients.
- Gain a deep understanding of Fidelity's business cycle framework and asset allocation views from our Asset Allocation Research Team (AART).
- Absorb manager research and thought leadership from Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA) to maintain an open architecture investment approach and champion advisor education on topics such as portfolio construction with alternative investments.
- Distill investment and market insights and establish a sound grasp of Fidelity's investment approach through quarterly meetings with Fidelity's top portfolio managers.
- Advance market commentary, asset class and sector strategy, and macro views from Fidelity's Capital Market Strategy Group (CMSG).
The Expertise and Skill You Bring
- 10+ years' relevant work experience, with a background in portfolio decision-making, providing investment guidance across multiple asset classes and styles including Alternatives.
- CFA charterholder.
- MBA or master's degree preferred.
- FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses required within four months of joining.
- Proven investment acumen, with the ability to respectfully challenge others' investment views.
- Strong understanding of the evolving product landscape across traditional and emerging products (Alternatives, SMAs, Direct Indexing).
- Proficient at helping clients conduct investment due diligence and incorporate liquid and illiquid Alternatives into portfolio construction.
- Dynamic problem solver capable of independently completing complex portfolio analyses.
- Ideal candidate will combine outstanding aptitude for tackling the hardest portfolio challenges with unusual grace & persuasiveness.
- Strong sales communication & writing skills, including translating complex quantitative investment analysis into relevant, actionable investment solutions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and developer of positive relationships with select internal & external partners.
The Team
The Portfolio Construction Guidance Team (PCG) is a part of the Portfolio Construction Solutions Team within Fidelity Institutional (FI). We work closely with Fidelity's Asset Allocation Research Team (AART) and Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA), Fidelity's Model Team, and sales and marketing teams. We are responsible for providing portfolio construction insights to our advisory clients.
No relocation will be provided for this role.
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $200,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
