This individual will be joining the Corporate Tax team in Boston, responsible for managing State and Local Indirect Tax function, including compliance, audits/controversies, planning, and system integrations for sales/use tax, personal property tax and similar tax types. The Expertise You Have
- Minimum of 8-10 years of multi-state indirect tax experience, including responsibility for managing sales/use tax and/or personal property tax compliance and controversies and providing planning support and system integrations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business; Masters in Taxation and/or CPA preferred
- Experience providing advisory and performing product analysis for sales/use tax determinations and multi-state software and technology tax technical knowledge
- Experience in managing multi-state voluntary disclosures and sales tax system implementation initiatives are a plus
- Experience working with tax compliance software, such as Vertex, is a plus
- Experience in ERP and/or procurement systems, such as Oracle R12 and Ariba is a plus
- Proficiency in workflow tools such as Alteryx and Power BI, in addition to Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Excel, Words, PowerPoint, etc.)
The Purpose of Your Role
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have experience in a large multi-state sales/use and property tax consulting, compliance, and nexus issues. This individual must communicate effectively and work well with others across all levels. The ideal candidate will also be solution driven with a big picture mindset. This is a highly visible role that interfaces with the leadership from all business units throughout the organization and our shared service teams such as Procurement and Corporate Account Payables. This person will also work across the various Corporate Tax teams, outside vendors, and with other professionals throughout the organization.

The Value You Deliver
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the indirect tax function, including the preparation and review of multi-state sales/use, personal property and other applicable taxes and filings.
- Identify opportunities to improve and/or automate tax compliance processes to improve efficiencies and controls.
- Provide leadership, support and development of two to three direct and indirect reports.
- Monitor nexus footprint and filing requirements on an ongoing basis, including but not limited to working with business partners to determine impact of changes in business activities and laws and facilitating proper process to be compliant.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and the state taxing authorities on controversy work, timely communication of significant state examination developments to ensure proper company compliance.
- Facilitate any state and local registrations with business partners.
- Research sales and use tax matters and keeping up-to-date on current regulatory changes, tax practices and technical issues.
- Support new business and department initiatives through participation or representing Tax on cross-functional teams, and management of enterprise projects.
- Develop plans to modify and improve existing processes to reduce future audit risk.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies related to the tax area and maintain the related documentation to ensure adherence with all standards
- Research tax regulations and tax rules to support projects and initiatives.
- Provide tax guidance to support internal contacts or other areas of finance team.
