Job Description:
The Director, Workload Automation Engineering will be an individual contributor solutions engineer for workload orchestration, commonly referred to as batch, practices with our commercial of the shelf platforms (COTS) and outside out of our COTS platforms, such as cloud native orchestration and open source. You will work with architecture and other batch engineers to keep our batch platforms resilient while also adding valuable new features. In this role, you will be responsible for COTS workload automation development, administration, and production stability. You will help internal users using workload automation. If engineering and providing solutions to teams is what you want to do, this is the role for you. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, recommending, and advocating solutions to both optimize workload automation, or batch, practices. You will also help eliminate batch processing from mainframe, on prem, and cloud.

The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in application development, architecture, or system engineering.
- Knowledge and experience of cloud concepts and technologies, AWS and Azure.
- Knowledge and experience of off the shelf workload automation, or batch, platforms, Control-M and Autosys.
- Knowledge and experience of open-source data orchestration, Airflow and Prefect preferred.
- Knowledge of architecture practices.
- Experience with batch processing alternatives, such as data-sharing, event-driven architecture, and streaming.
- Data engineering understanding and skills, such as SQL. Oracle preferred.
- Able to document solutions well.
- Highly experienced in Linux practices.
- Understanding of agile practices.
- Organized and effective communicator both orally and in written, making the complex simpler.
- Mainframe experience a plus.
The Team
You will be on an enterprise batch team, within a larger Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations domain, responsible for the administration of commercial of the shelf solutions, application support for their batch cycles, modernization, and a center of excellence of batch practices. You will report to the Batch Modernization Leader working in the Batch platform team. You will get to act as system engineer and a developer advocate. You and your team will help foster and collect existing and new solutions, then evangelize and advocate those solutions to application and support teams.
