Director, Finance | Enterprise Services

The Director, Finance will provide business leadership with informed and insightful financial analysis to guide effective decision making across the Enterprise Services (ES) organization. Partnering with finance and business leaders, the director will be the primary owner of planning and budgeting activities and will lead processes to support these activities across line finance teams. Responsibilities include leading the annual multi-year planning process, the annual budget process, strategic finance updates with leadership, development of executive content which requires strategic linkages across the firm, as well as thought leadership around evaluation of new opportunities. As such, you will represent ES to Corporate Finance, the Planning Office and other FFS initiatives, and communicate requirements back to the group. The role also includes a strong partnership with the broader Enterprise Services (ES) Finance team to deliver core financial line and decision support responsibilities such as revenue, expense and headcount controls and oversight as well as the responsibility for junior analyst management and development. Success will require intellectual curiosity, the ability to distill large amounts of information into a clear and concise story, strong collaboration skills, a process driven mindset, comprehensive problem solving, and the ability to successfully lead projects.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent with 10+ years' experience in financial analysis and planning in the Finance industry


  • Significant experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) activities, preferably including strong working knowledge of Fidelity's processes and data sources


  • Proven ability to combine a strategic business perspective with strong project management and analytical skills


  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to 'tell the story' and communicate complex financial information to influence executive decision making


  • Solid knowledge and expertise in financial modeling and presentation tools (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Thinkcell, etc.) and the ability to teach others


  • Intellectually curious, self-starter who takes initiative, learns quickly and is comfortable managing opposing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment


  • Confidence, business maturity, and presence to work independently and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including effectively interacting with and influencing senior management


  • Outstanding critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, and analytical skills


  • Project management experience establishing timelines and leading all aspects of the project lifecycle


  • Strong interpersonal skills, proactively building consultative relationships across Finance and the business


  • Ability to gain subject matter expertise in a short time and apply institutional knowledge to business decisions and quality analytics


  • Proven ability, flexibility, and resourcefulness to manage several priorities in a deadline driven environment, having comfort with ambiguity


  • Ability to take initiative and seek creative solutions that challenge conventional approach


  • Proven leadership skills and ability to develop financial analyst talent

  • Supporting the annual planning processes including budgeting and forecasting, partnering with Corporate Finance and ES finance team


  • Using tools and business knowledge to continuously provide insightful information, reporting and analytics that evolve with changes in the business, including proactive thinking and analysis


  • Articulating outcomes of analysis and relevant insights by delivering presentations to senior level management and guide effective decision-making

  • Drives process improvements, governance and controls that will result in more efficient collection, analysis and reporting of information.

The Enterprise Services (ES) organization consists of business units that focus on vitality and growth opportunities for Fidelity including new businesses, products, and technological capabilities. Fidelity Labs, FCAT, Fidelity Consulting and Corporate Business Development encompass ES, as well as emerging businesses like Fidelity Insurance Group and wholly owned entities like Fidelity Charitable. Due to the innovative focus of Enterprise Services, the businesses our finance team supports are driving key strategic initiatives for Fidelity. Finance is a key contributor to that success.
