Job Description:

This opportunity is responsible for leading a team that provides guidance and oversight for data-related processes. This role will be responsible for performing business, systems & data analysis around fixed income, being responsible for daily/weekly/monthly production cycles, responding for ad-hoc data analysis requests in support of various projects and leading the resolution of any raised requests/issues through close coordination with members from Technology, Investment Management, Data Strategy, Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO), Research and Portfolio Management teams to insure timely remediation. The Director Data Strategy will play a meaningful role in the oversight and coordination of all data-related tasks, business planning and prioritization, data support for new product launches, regulatory & compliance data need fulfillment, marketing & communications material creation and advisor engagement like FMR.

The Expertise You Bring

  • 8+ years in a data intensive, hands on environment, preferably within investment management or technology industries
  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree along with CFA (in progress or completed) preferred

The Skills You Bring

  • Experience in leading a data / technology / operations team and /or initiative as an individual contributor, preferably in the Asset Management and Research space. People management experience not required.
  • Broad-based investment industry experience and proven analytical skills; experience with operations, business analysis, project management, and scorecard and metrics reporting
  • Highly analytical approach with the ability to quickly comprehend large data sets to develop new processes, perform calculations, identify anomalies, and/or produce new reporting capabilities.
  • Highly proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet objectives under minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, including fund and index performance measurement, predictive risk modeling, alpha research, stock selection models, and performance attribution specifically within Fixed Income.
  • Strong data querying skills using SQL, TOAD, Tableau, Excel or any other applications.
  • Prior Experience with Reporting and Visualization Tools like Tableau, Spotfire, Alteryx or other BI, Data Prep, Blending etc.
  • Good understanding of AI/ML concepts, R, Python or Scala is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; ability to produce executive-level PowerPoint presentations and manipulate data using Excel. Understanding of Excel macros, VLOOKUP's & VBA
  • Strong hands-on project leadership skills with the drive to complete complex projects as a part of small teams within an extremely fast paced environment. Capability to liaise with investment professionals to gather requirements and manage deliverables of technical development teams.
  • Knowledge of securities, corporate actions, financial statement analysis, street estimates, pricing and performance data.
  • Fidelity experience or experience with Managed Accounts is a plus
  • CFA strongly preferred but not required.

  • Manage Strategic Advisors Inc (SAI) Data Strategy engagement, build knowledge base and serve as single point of contact for new work intake, monitoring & support, issues escalation & resolution
  • Support the diverse data needs of Senior Management, Portfolio Managers, Research/Quant Analysts, Accounts and Goals team, and Investment Management across a range of projects and initiatives
  • Identify areas for process and quality improvement. Recommend optimal resources required for operational data needs based on complexity, cost and scalability.
  • Participate in business planning and prioritization for data initiatives
  • Demonstrate strong Project Management and Analysis skills. Ensure that key data elements for platform, product, research, risk and investment management are available and of high quality. Work with business partners to help identify gaps and craft solutions.
  • Partner with Product teams to identify data-related needs for new products and services or enhancements to existing ones.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external business partners
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests with an eye to scale and automation where appropriate
  • Lead the resolution of any raised requests/issues through close coordination with members from Data Strategy, FFIO, Platform and Operations teams to ensure timely remediation
