    Job Description

    As a valued contributor to our team, you will advise on how to use various data sources to design and develop reports that meet required formats or expected standards, and follow a reporting cadence. In this role, you will verify reports to ensure information is accurate and descriptive of the data, and that they fulfill the business need.

    THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
    The Finance - Reporting - Advisor role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

    • Mentor associates, provide constructive feedback to employees, and assist other financial reporting team members.
    • Oversee gathering of and/or collaborate with internal teams to gather required information and meet reporting timelines.
    • Draft financial driver language and MD&A that is well written, organized, and in a manner that is meaningful to the audience.
    • Present and explain complex material to the financial reporting team and other stakeholder groups within the organization.
    • Communicate with external auditors as needed ensuring key deliverables are met.
    • Review reports for accuracy and timeliness, provide insightful analysis, and explain reporting results.
    • Research and implement new accounting standards under U.S GAAP and other public company regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to Financial Reporting.
    • Stay current with industry best practices to ensure consistent with industry benchmarks.
    • Advocate for process improvements including identifying and leading the implementation of opportunities where technology can achieve automation and/or simplification.

    Qualifications

    THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

    Minimum Required Experiences

    • 6 years in public accounting or financial reporting at a publicly traded company
    • Licensed CPA or equivalent

    Desired Experiences

    • Bachelors degree and/or master's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Collective capabilities for leadership, including leading teams, giving feedback, facilitating meetings, and coaching and mentoring
    • Skilled in managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, building relationship networks, etc.
    • Experience researching regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with those requirements, particularly with respect to knowledge and understanding of GAAP and SEC requirements
    • Ability to develop a solid understanding of Fannie Mae's business model with the ability to explain financial results in a meaningful way; must have strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
    • Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
    • Skilled in Excel
    • Experience using accounting software such as Workiva and/or Workday (preferred)
