The Senior Director, Marketing Operations leads the marketing operations function and is responsible for marketing related reporting and analytics; process, building refinement; planning and budgeting; marketing technology selection, implementation, governance and roadmap development; marketing data management; best practices syndication; and marketing skills development. This role manages a team of Performance Marketing and Marketing Operations managers/analysts, and guides strategy on all things reporting, digital performance, and MarTech.
Responsibilities:
- Define, develop and deliver marketing measurement approaches for a variety of inbound and outbound marketing approaches. These programs will involve a full range of online and multi-media channels targeting B2B and B2C consumers
- Manage small (3-4 person) team of Marketing Operations Analysts and Performance Marketing/Digital marketing managers to guide priorities, allocate resources and establish cross-team strategy on all things technology governance, forecasting/analytics, and digital marketing investment
- Work with Marketing Operations team and vendors to construct key marketing reporting mechanisms, including dashboards and reports
- Oversee Paid Media/SEO Agency relationship and strategy with Performance Marketers. Advise and support performance marketing initiatives to ensure digital marketing strategy is best-in-class, collaborating with agency, vertical demand generation teams, and corporate/website operations to establish clear lead journey for all audience segments
- Ongoing analytics delivery to provide marketing and sales with insights for better alignment, forecasting and decision making
- Marketing technology infrastructure ownership, including collaboration with IT, Sales Operations and other functions as needed: Project management, implementation, governance and roadmap development for Marketing Automation Platforms (MAP) and its counterparts (NetSuite)
- Marketing data ownership/management, as well as alignment with relevant corporate data initiatives
- Marketing process leadership, working in conjunction with impacted marketing and sales functions: Lead Scoring, Buyer’s Journey, Lead Waterfall metrics, Lead Routing and reporting
- Oversight of marketing planning and budgeting process in collaboration with Marketing Team Leadership
- Development of a marketing professional development plan by function, working with leaders of those functions
- Work with marketing department leaders to define process and prioritization of work
- Work with senior staff and department leaders to develop and maintain a strategic perspective based on marketplace and customer base
- Support the company’s brand, vision and goals while enabling the service of internal clients
- Develop and coordinate means to seek regular input from departmental leaders regarding the quality of programs and services this group provides
- Formulate and administer policies to ensure integrity of the organization and team
- Act as internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to the company priorities as needed.
- Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel
- Train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel
- Design, support and oversee cross functional teams throughout the organization that enables smooth and successful execution of product campaigns and efforts
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- 6+ years of marketing experience that includes experience in an operations or performance marketing role
- IT project management experience, including the rollout of related applications (MAP, MRM, SFA) to sales and marketing audiences
- Experience developing and managing budgets
- Experience in process creation, delivery and monitoring, particularly in the area of service level agreements
- Ability to translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations
- Experience with measurement/dashboard creation
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross functional teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
