The Director of Implementation will drive the overall implementation life cycle methodology utilized to deploy client solutions including: daily operational management, project management methodology and program oversight, best practice alignment, process improvements, master staffing schedule, and coordination with third party service providers. Focusing on customer satisfaction, the Director will also manage large scale, complex client projects with multi-project/product efforts that span customer stakeholders, internal senior leadership, partners/vendors, and other stakeholders. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional client expectation and escalation management, cross-departmental collaboration, proactive communication, and close monitoring of issues and risks.
Responsibilities
- Serve as direct manager to the delivery team leadership and senior implementation resources inclusive of day to day management, professional development, performance reviews, recruitment, and other staff management responsibilities with very limited direction and oversight.
- Responsible for applying expert knowledge of the implementation and large project process, providing strategic direction, making decisions and solving complex problems to move the business forward while driving consistent implementation within a matrixed organization to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
- Create and maintain a highly skilled team of Implementation Services Specialists and Project Managers.
- Work with the management team to define and execute strategies across functions
- Be responsible for resourcing new and upcoming projects appropriately and manage the team’s time and resources
- Monitor and manage team headcount to functional budget
- Actively manage and improve key performance indicators such as but not limited to client satisfaction, time to value, budget-to-actual, and employee satisfaction.
- Manage both technical and business owners relationship escalations from the client onboarding phase, ensuring appropriate and proactive client communications setting realistic expectations
- Collaborate with sales and client success to ensure successful client onboarding
- Provide insight to sales and client success regarding potential new engagements and/or expansion opportunities
- Resolve issues and mitigate risks across projects
- Manage large-scale, complex client projects with multi-project/product efforts that span client stakeholders, internal senior leadership, partners/vendors, and other stakeholders
- Communicate with internal teams to provide transparency into delivery capacity for new project plans, potential new engagements or expansion opportunities, and provide feedback when applicable.
- Establish process for assessing performance, capacity, and identifying common risk patterns; develop strategies to drive operational efficiency and risk reduction including measures to gauge impact and effectiveness of improvements
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices, market data and new product rollouts
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred
- 7 years experience with direct oversight for an external facing Client Project / Project Management Office (PMO) managing large, complex, multi-project programs
- Experience coaching and guiding project team members, as well as managing internal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using both data and experience for decision making
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication, including ability to effectively synthesize and present information to leaders and executives, internally and externally
- Ability to actively identify risks and develop mitigation
- Knowledge of leading technical trends
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions
- Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects, oversee daily project operations, and support other projects in a contributor role
- Strong customer management skills and ability to work with customer contacts at all levels
- Highly proficient in standard business and project management applications such as MS Office or Google Suite, Salesforce, Jira, MS Project, SmartSheets, MS Visio/Lucid Charts, etc.
