Job Summary
The Corporate Development Manager plays a key role in Regional business planning/analysis, strategic initiatives, and new business development research. They are expected to build strong partnerships with all major functions and consult on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate investments.
Responsibilities
Investment Management and Optimization
- Reviews near- and long-term capacity plans and maintains an inventory roadmap for each metro
- Evaluates real estate strategy for each metro and supports capex forecasts on planned development
- Coordinates the preparation of business cases for new development
- Responsible for the financial modeling and development of presentations
- Works with Design, Construction, Sales, Ops, Finance and other departments to determine optimal development plans • Coordinates investment approval process and capex prioritization
- Presents or supports investment proposals to executive management
- Evaluates site business performance against plans
- Supports asset management optimization strategies including expansion, contraction, disposition and reconfiguration of properties •
- Reviews financial analysis and IRR models
- Leads ad hoc financial analysis and support investment analysis for other business units, including M&A, Strategy, Business Development, and others
M&A
- Supports buyside and sellside M&A processes
- Works to resolve deal issues
- Analyzes deal activity in areas of interest to Equinix
- Coordinates with Treasury team to support financing associated with a transaction
- Assists in development of M&A thesis (the "why") in support of Strategy with the Business Unit Heads
- Supports development of operational models and synergy forecasts for targets
- Tracks to transaction timeline
- May assist with the storyboarding of presentations to drive discussion at the Senior Executive level
Strategic Planning and Development
- Supports the annual strategic planning process in conjunction with the Regional and Corporate teams
- Evaluates corporate development opportunities, partnering with Finance, Marketing, and other operating areas
- Develops strategy/business cases and sells into organization, raising issues when necessary
- Supports project and program management, as necessary
- Takes on a wide variety of roles, depending on the project
- Develops presentations for internal audiences (e.g., Corp Dev leadership, peers in other functions)
- Responsible for the assessment of market extension opportunities (e.g. new services, solutions, business models, etc.)
Project and Program Management
- Works with senior Corporate Development team members, country managers, and department heads to identify, diagnose and make recommendations for improving business operations
- Helps host and chair cross functional team meetings
- Prepares Executive staff and Board presentation materials
- Supports efforts on internal consulting projects focused on new markets/products, growth initiatives or profitability improvements
- Aids in short-term consulting / problem solving / performance improvement support & advice to E-team
- Prepares team meeting materials and helps run projects over time periods with some supervision by more senior Corporate Development team members
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Effectively maintains and utilizes relationships with key stakeholders throughout the company
- Ensures alignment in cross-functional priorities
- Helps catalogue issues and document issues in cross-functional meetings with a more senior team member
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; CPA or MBA a plus
- Proven years of business experience, preferably in Investment Banking/Top tier Management consulting/Corporate Finance/Corporate Development at a leading technology company preferred
