Lead JavaScript Developer

We are seeking a Lead JavaScript Developer to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with React and headless eCommerce architectures, coupled with the leadership skills necessary to inspire a team to embrace best practices and pioneer new technology trends. This role plays a crucial part in shaping our future as we delve into headless storefronts and composable architecture, with additional experience in enterprise design systems and Storybook being highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and support of frontend components for our eCommerce sites, particularly focusing on headless implementations and CMS management via systems like Amplience
  • Introduce and advocate for design system tools such as Storybook and Knapsack to ensure consistency and scalability across projects
  • Set and enforce code quality standards, automate testing processes, and focus on enhancing application uptime, scalability, and performance
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring for component health, availability, and performance, collaborating with other teams to proactively enhance reliability
  • Develop team expertise in headless eCommerce architectures, championing best practices and preparing for the implementation of composable storefronts
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, and agile leads to integrate and align enterprise-level design patterns and technical standards
  • Manage the team's backlog, prioritizing technical debt, performance enhancements, and modernization tasks, while maintaining a practical technical roadmap
  • Mentor both junior and senior engineers within the squad, promoting technical growth and skill development
  • Engage actively in agile practices, driving continuous improvement and resolving productivity blockers
  • Keep abreast of the latest tools and technologies, exploring new methods to enhance software delivery and performance
  • Work with third-party vendors for implementations and framework updates, evaluating and recommending solutions to meet business needs

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a JavaScript Developer
  • At least 1 year of experience in leadership and team management
  • Proficiency in ReactJS, with a focus on building scalable and maintainable web applications
  • Experience with Node.js for server-side application logic and integration
  • Familiarity with AWS for deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems, particularly in the context of eCommerce platforms
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and best practices
  • Fluent in English with communication skills at a B2 level or higher
Nice to have
  • Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, particularly in customizing and extending its capabilities
  • Proficiency in additional modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or Vue.js
  • Experience with GraphQL or other API technologies for optimized frontend-backend integration
