Job Summary
The APM Tools Engineer position in the Strategic Accounts team is responsible for implementation, management and support of client's Application Performance Monitoring (APM) practice utilizing Splunk Observability set of tools. Key responsibilities include management and support of Splunk Observability platform, development, maintenance and support of Synthetics scripts, configuration and management of APM agents, implementation of effective alerting policies, and creation of various dashboards and reports as required by the client's Operations and Application Support teams.

The Strategic Accounts team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the service we deliver to our clients. The main deliverables are:
- Develop and implement Synthetics monitors of various complexity including Scripted Browsers and API Tests. Maintain the existing monitor population (2,000+ and growing) and implement timely changes as required by the applications. Work closely with the application teams and support the applications releases. Provide expertise in Synthetics scripts development and troubleshooting to the application community.
- Develop and customize Splunk APM agents' configurations as per the applications teams' requirements.
- Create and manage effective alerting / notification policies. Work closely with the operations and application support teams to minimize the false positive alerts.
- Undertake day-to-day operational, troubleshooting and user support. Provide Synthetics engineering expertise and lead incident and problem management activities involving Synthetics monitors issues. Develop and implement Synthetics and APM health checks.
- Design, configure and support Synthetics Private Locations maximizing the productive utilization and minimizing the execution queues.
- Perform Splunk Observability administration tasks including licensing capacity tracking, user access management, roles, permissions, etc. Develop and maintain various Splunk Observability dashboards and reports as per the operations and applications support teams' requirements.
Knowledge
- Advanced skills in Java / JavaScript programming. High level of competence in designing, creating, and consuming SOAP and REST services. Expertise in using Selenium and Katalon Web Drivers.
- Proficiency in developing Synthetics monitors and analyzing application performance metrics using any of the industry standard tools such as Splunk Observability, New Relic, Dynatrace or AppDynamics or others to identify application issues.
- Working knowledge and command of common platforms including Linux and Windows.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to collaborate and rally support.
- Self-disciplined, self-managed, self-motivated and strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

Experience
- A minimum of four years of program development experience using Java and/or JavaScript, SOAP and REST services, Selenium / Katalon WebDrivers and various XML technologies.
- Bachelor of Science/Computers/Engineering is preferred.
