Job Summary:
As a Senior Backup Engineer, you will be focused on the administration of TSM and Cobalt Iron platforms, meeting and exceeding defined service levels in delivering backup and recovery services to our banking sector client. Your key responsibilities will include addressing escalated backup infrastructure investigations, mentoring and guiding more junior colleagues and contributing significantly to the systematic improvement of the environment as a whole. You will also be involved in developing and defining lifecycling activities such as hardware and software refreshes to maintain the environment at target levels. You will also be involved in migration activities as necessary to support an exciting program of change, implementing backup infrastructure components, developing content to support automation of backup workflows, and serving as an escalation point on and off shift to other members of the team. Maintaining diligence around ITSM process and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures are paramount in this role.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional backup services, prioritizing simplicity and enhancing the customer experience.
- Administer TSM and Cobalt Iron in a mixed environment of Unix, Linux and Windows servers.
- Build and deploy backup infrastructure, including managing backup repositories.
- Demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting skills for backup, tape, and storage issues.
- Proficiently manage critical issues within the backup infrastructure, liaising across multiple technical towers as appropriate.
- Work independently and actively coach and develop peers, as well as participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of TSM and Cobalt Iron, both through command line and GUI interfaces.
- Drive appropriate engagement and response from key vendors to ensure service levels for this environment.
- Adhere to established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management.
- Utilize automation tools for efficient backup processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrate previous outcomes in script development and process improvement.
- Client engagement Ability to develop operational reports.
- Cross-technology experience and confidence, particularly in networking and OS.
- Experience in managing critical backup infrastructure at scale
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University; or 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in TSM administration.
- Preferred 4 years of experience in Cobalt Iron administration.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in backup and recovery operations.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment.
- Travel as required.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $102,000 to $148,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
