Roles and Responsibilities

• Oracle DBA role largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization.
• Primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs

• Be able to drive the Major Incident/P1/outage calls

• Client facing experience is mandatory, need to join client calls.

• Must have experience in operations support and contributed in Incident, Change, Problem tickets/management.
• Reviewing service related reports (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
• Requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.

Mandatory Skills

Excellent experience in Oracle Cloud, Exadata, RAC, Golden-Gate, ASM, Data guard, OEM, RMAN, Patching, Shell Scripting and Performance Tuning
• Experience running and supporting large databases under high transaction rates

  • Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues using tools like OEM
  • Must have knowledge & experience in data guard & OGG replication technology including resolving performance issues.
    • Solid experience in database migration from one platform to another, patching, upgrade, data loading, security, capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning
    • Ability to manage all database maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checks, etc.
    • Ability to analyze traces, debug stored procedures, triggers and packages
    • Automates routine database functions to ensure accuracy and minimize costs
    • Monitors all production database activity for operational improvements to include, but not limited to CPU, Disk and Memory utilization, space utilization, replication and consistency of sites, long running queries/data loads, query access plans, security infractions and overall performance of databases
    • Develops and implements corrective measures for database issues/problems found during monitoring.
  • Experience on installation of new setup, configuration of standby & cascade standbys.
  • Ability to upgrade databases on different platforms with different versions.
  • Must have knowledge of AWS RDS databases.
  • Must have knowledge of Database Refreshes on various platforms.
  • Working experience of Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Clear understanding of Database Architecture, Operating Systems, Client/ Server Architecture, Middleware and Hardware (Servers, SAN, Network)
