The ProMade BU is a fast pace environment dedicated to the design, development and production of patient specific implants, to address the most challenging patients that cannot benefit from off-the shelf products.

Job Title/High Level Position Summary:

The main scope of this role is to perform all the activities related to the Subtractive Manufacturing workflow for the production of metal medical devices in a small volume/high design complexity point of care manufacturing site.

The CNC/Machining Manufacturing ProductionEngineer will be responsible for the entire SM workflow (CAM and ISO G-Code generation, operation of the machine, Finishing on manual machines, quality control).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review of manufacturability alongside with the design engineer.
  • Interface with the main manufacturers of inserts and tools.
  • Understand milling technology in particular on NC machining centers with 5 continuous axes (Bridgeport machining center model "GX 250 AX5").
  • Understand turning technology.
  • Analysis of the drawings and identification of processing strategies and sequences.
  • Preparation of the appropriate work cycle for the design to be produced.
  • Preparation of the measurement program for the CMM.
  • Preparation of ISO G-Code program for the NC machine by mean CAM platform (Siemens NX-CAM.)
  • Optimization (or preparation) of ISO G-Code program for the NC machine directly from on-board machine by mean the NC.
  • Design and manufacture of tooling and fixtures for machining and measuring.
  • Assembly and pre-setting of tool kits.
  • NC machine cleaning, loading of the toolkits and "set-up" of the machine.
  • Supervision and monitoring of the manufacturing process.
  • Dimensional quality control.
  • Finishing processing of the part (sand blasting, bead blasting, polishing, deburring) and surface cleaning (degrease washing).
  • Preparation of purchase requests necessary for the production department.
  • Management of the PO and logistics with suppliers and external laboratories.
  • Maintenance of all the records associated to traceability and quality control and performance of the associated quality control activities.
  • Performance of maintenance activities on the machines.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with ProMade manufacturing team to share process strategies and improvements to meet tight deadlines.
  • Performance of machine and process validation activities and records keeping.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering is desired.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a precision mechanics manufacturing environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • < 10% ,

Physical Requirements:

  • Dynamic and comfortable in sitting or standing according to the activity performed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Automotive, aerospace or medical device industry experience is a plus.

  • Consolidated experience in the CAD/CAM programming.
  • Consolidated experience in running numerical control machining centers, in particular with 5 continuous axes
  • Good knowledge of dimensional check tools (calipers, CMM, roughness tester, etc.)
