About the role:

Enova is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a primary Division of Engineering function. In this role, you will lead cross-functional teams, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions. You will collaborate with key stakeholders including Product, P&L, Operations and Sales; you will mentor engineers and play a critical role in shaping the future of our technology stack and processes.  This role requires a strategic leader with a strong technical background who will demonstrate ownership and accountability for complex projects, foster innovation, and build a Best Answer Wins engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage delivery of your team’s projects and align their engineering practices with the entire Tech organization
  • Partner with your product counterpart to identify and deliver new products and features for our customers
  • Work closely with Executive stakeholders to define and execute the long-term engineering vision and technical roadmap
  • Directly manage leaders, while overseeing a team of 50+ engineers
  • Guide the processes, practices, and systems that give employees the tools and confidence to make decisions independently
  • Participate in weekly cross-functional leadership meetings up to align on roadmap progress and updates
  • Work with and through your team to properly assess the size and complexity of new initiatives to make realistic commitments
  • Guide robust large-scale projects, including system migrations and platform upgrades
  • Voice the needs of your team or customers to proactively remove roadblocks

 

Requirements: 

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering leadership experience formally managing direct reports, and partnering closely with Product Management leadership teams
  • 7+ years of experience leading highly complex system and application migrations, ideally in a technical leadership role (Bonus: Proven success both hands-on and in guiding technical teams through complex transformations.)
  • 7+ years planning, estimating, and owning a significant roadmap of work distributed across multiple teams
  • Demonstrated success in communicating technical detail to an executive audience
  • Comfortable acting as an advisor to help guide business decisions, leveraging knowledge of systems
  • Comfortable with financial responsibilities as a technical leader, including handling contract labor contracts and managing budgets
  • Experience in the design and development of highly scalable and robust web applications, including experience with DBs, APIs, front & back ends, and services
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages like Ruby, Python, Java, PHP or .NET
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

 

Compensation:

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $155,000 to $230,000. Actual annual salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, and level assessed during the hiring process and may fall outside of the range shown. Additional compensation for this role may include a bonus and restricted stock units. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in Company benefits, described in more detail here.
