The Business Performance Director supports the Market Management Leadership team, leading a team of business performance leaders and consultants to deliver regular business performance reviews with a goal to communicate metric outcomes and financial results, drive accountability, and facilitate resource tradeoffs to achieve Business Unit objectives. The leader will regularly work across the firm and with market management stakeholders to create timely standard and proactive ad-hoc reporting, align on and execute against ambitious annual business objectives, and support a multi-year planning process that optimizes growth, efficiency, and the increase of healthy, long-term market share.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and develop an experienced business performance team that supports market leaders understand specific geographic opportunity, identify and execute business strategies to address that opportunity, and help craft short- and long-term plans to deliver on business objectives.
  • Lead, optimize, and enhance the Monthly Performance Review process for Market Management improving national best practices, and in partnership with key stakeholders provide strategic, analytic, financial, and operational consulting on potential adjustments to achieve objectives.
  • Develop Metrics that Matter and other key data and reporting sources with stakeholders, enabling teams to identify the biggest opportunities across divisions and markets. Direct the development of ad-hoc reporting improving the "state of the art" across all divisions, to identify relevant business strategies, aid root cause analysis, and articulate trade-offs.
  • Facilitate annual and ongoing strategic and operational planning at Market Management level in concert with the Leadership Team, negotiating resourcing across markets, divisions, and segments and documenting long range plans to drive accountability.
  • Set processes to analyze and communicate sales and expense forecasts and develop targets to achieve a sustainable business model aligned to market and division outcomes. Account for competitive landscape and specific competitors when shaping plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate with, and influence across, peers and leadership within business performance team, escalating opportunities and best practices to drive organizational improvements, present and influence at senior most branch development and enterprise levels. Partner across organization broadly, including Human Capital, Firm Analytics, Finance, and Data & Insights organizations.

Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage are provided at no cost to associates. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism. Associates may be eligible for bonuses and profit sharing. All associates are eligible for the firm's Employee Assistance Program. What you'll need:

  • Advanced Degree or designation/certification required (e.g., MBA, CFA, CPA)
  • 11-14 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • 5-7 years of people leadership experience required
  • SIE and Series 7 Top-off preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the industry or firm and its business practices and processes
  • Strong knowledge of a field structure and market operating system
  • Proficiency in analytic and technical knowledge of business performance (metrics and financials), market trend analysis, and applicable tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
