Eaton's GEIS(Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions) business is hiring an Engineering Leader in Chennai.

What you'll do:

• This is a global role with ownership for the engineering of our Systems portfolio and the management of the GEIS India engineering teams in Chennai.
• The role will have direct reports in Chennai, Arendal, Mulheim and Yuhua with around 100 engineers.
• The role requires close working with all of the GPLM's and global engineering leaders to ensure we are aligned on technology and capability.
• Budget ownership for the systems and Chennai R&D budget of $4.5M.
• This role will lead the execution and delivery of all NPD and sustaining activities and drive continous improvement of all key metrics.
• Key member of the GEIS India leadership team driving India growth.
• Development of the system architecture and driving the technical evolution of the product offering.
• Ownership of the Devices surge product portfolio and support into the global manufacturing plants.
• Drive India growth through NPD and S2S initiatives.
• Engagement with Eaton CoE's and external partners to drive technology and innovation.
• Overall resource management of all engineers working on NPD and Sustaining projects.
• All People management functions for the team including Goals setting, Development planning and training.
• Creation of a strong team culture focused on meeting commitments and delivering zero defect products.
• A strong leader who will lead by example and flow the Eaton leadership behaviours into the team.
• Fostering of a strong six sigma mindset within the team and ensuring adoption of all pertinent tools and techniques.
• Focused development of the India engineering team to ensure they become a global resource to work across all platforms.
• A strong people person who can balance the needs of the person and the needs of the business.
• Must work closely with the project managers to ensure the correct staffing of all approved projects.
• Assist in the planning of all new projects and ensure we have the ability to commit the resources based on the agreed schedule for each project.
• Drive the adoption of the Eaton CCIS platforms and the creation of common software reusable functions.
• Good understanding of the ProLaunch process to ensure successful support and delivery of each project.
• Development of IP and networking skills across the group.
• Development of automated test capability to accelerate system validation, improve quality and reduce TTM.
• Continuous improvement of the Chennai test facilities and the expansion of our external lab accreditation.
• Deputizing for the GEIS EMEA engineering director as required.
• Demonstration of excellent problem solving skills and a track record of leading others to do the same.
• Responsible for ensuring the appropriate skills/capabilities mix in the SW team through development/recruitment/coaching.
• Responsible for the performance management of a team.
• Participation in the definition of product roadmaps.
• Maintaining an awareness of current industry trends and maintaining relationships with suppliers to make best use of emerging technologies.
• Support concept/bids phase evaluation of projects with respect to task identification/estimation.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Marketing, Operations and external customers when more in depth product knowledge is required.

• Degree level in Software or Hardware Engineering discipline
• 10 years in product development and 5 years in people management

• This role require excellent people leadership and communications skills and the ability to influnce outside of the scope of the role.
• The ideal candidate will have experience of software and embedded product development.
• Must have the ability to motive and nurture a culture of innovation and continual improvement.
