What you'll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Global Director OE Operations Fuels and Motion Control (FMC) will report directly to the Senior Vice President for the FMC division, and functionally to the VP-Manufacturing for Eaton's Aerospace Group. This role will be responsible for leading and driving the manufacturing operations function as well as the continuous improvement activities in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost of non-conformance (CONC) for the nine (9) FMC sites (United States and United Kingdom) representing a sales volume of $600M+.

The Director of Operations is a member of the FMC Leadership Team and will be charged with engaging cross functional resources to lead a collective effort to drive improvement across the sites under their scope. This role will create and implement disciplined processes and procedures across FMC, particularly related to CI/LEAN Tools, Sales Inventory, Operations and Planning (SIOP), and materials management, and will provide leadership to the organization through a proactive and motivating approach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage and direct all division manufacturing operations activities to ensure completion of customer and business requirements;

• Assists company leaders and senior staff member in the development and formulation of long and short term planning, policies programs and objectives;

• Implement a standardized Business Operating System to assess division and site Balanced Score Card metrics and coordinate actions to ensure schedule, cost, quality, CONC and safety goals are met;

• Manage division and site processes to assess monthly financial performance and establish accurate forecasts for manufacturing profit, inventory, CONC, capital and other financial metrics;

• Lead efforts across FED to implement lean management systems, lean tools and high performance work teams and standardize key processes including materials management and quality systems;

• Establish an operational strategy that supports industry leading performance in cost and execution and aligns to FED growth objectives;

• Lead projects and initiatives across FED in support of the manufacturing operations and group strategies;

• Supports Program Management integrated program teams (IPTs) with operations resources to ensure new product development activities deliver products that align to Operations strategy and performance objectives for cost and quality;

• Assure that all manufacturing plants meet environmental, health, and safety requirements considering local regulations, Eaton policy and sustainability;

• Build organization capability through assessment and management of key leadership positions, coaching of operational leaders and strategic development actions;
• Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff - taking corrective action as necessary and in a timely manager in accordance with company policy;
• Ensures compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations - consulting with the Human Resources Department as appropriate;

• Manage resource investment in organization development, capital equipment and new technology to assure organizational, manufacturing, product and market leadership; and

• Establish and lead an effective capital management process.

Qualifications:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

The ideal candidate will have a strong operational base, but also has experience in a variety of different functions. S/he will also have experience leading a high mix, multi-site operation. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to drive multi-functional change initiatives. S/he will have a track record of driving for and achieving results, as well as building overall organizational capability.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to deploy division level operations strategies, footprint rationalizations, and work with supply chain resources to develop make-or-buy strategies. S/he will also have exceptional business and financial acumen, having experience evaluating site performance, financial reports, participating in operating reviews, and being able to quickly discern the issues that are critical and vital for the sites. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be one that holds himself/herself accountable for delivering results on a consistent basis.

Basic Requirements:

• BA/BS in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations/Manufacturing, Business Administration or a 4 year technical degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution required
• Minimum of 15 years manufacturing operations experience including plant management.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading and managing a significant segment/business unit of a large industrial manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer
• Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally as needed and required
• Must be able to work in the United States on a continual basis without requiring corporate sponsorship
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), have been granted Political Asylum, or Refugee.

Preferred Requirements:
• MBA or MS Engineering preferred
• Previous experience in the Aerospace industry leading in a manufacturing environment
• Must have an extensive background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools.
• Prior experience with product transitions and leading manufacturing footprint strategy
• Prior experience leading culture transformation and driving change management
• Strong business and financial acumen along with proven customer management/relationship building
• Prior experience leading working in union environment and experiencing collective bargaining negotiations
• Prior experience leading and developing executive level plant leadership talent

• Broad knowledge of key operational systems including sales inventory operations planning (SIOP), materials planning systems (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and quality systems with diverse experience managing varied and complex manufacturing processes.

• Strong leadership skills along with proven capability to deliver results and build high performance teams.

• Must have a strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence and the ability to lead multiple locations.

S/he will have experience in developing a strategy that covers a range of products and/or markets, and encompasses the full range of organization implications and links with the series of initiatives and priorities that are compelling and logical for the business.

5. People Development. The ideal candidate will have shown the ability to support specific development needs of others and provide practical support to develop those needs with reasons and rationale by sharing not just what to do but why to do it. S/he will systematically and constructively gather individual development input from multiple sources to define development feedback. The candidate also will set specific individual development goals to build the capability of the organization before long-term success and also develop his own successor over the next few years.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $195000.03 - $286000.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
