The hours for this role are 7:00AM-3:30PM

The hourly rate for this position is 33.09 per hour.

What you'll do:

The Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton's Aerospace Group has an opening for Gear and Shaft Turning Operator. This position is based in Euclid, OH.
The Euclid facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace Fuel Pumping components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

Position Overview:

• Operate, maintain set-up and monitor equipment and inspect various shaft blanks produced in the Gear/Shaft Cell area. Perform as a team member providing assistance to other members and jointly responsible for the quality, productivity, and housekeeping of the Gear/Shaft Cell area.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections and maintain accurate documentation on a variety of parts in accordance with ANSI Y14-5 and the certified operator program.
• Provide assistance to other operators on proper operational procedures.
• Perform 5S and other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Functions:

• Equipment includes CNC turning machines and 4-axis VMC with varying programmable control units, automatic probing and gaging systems.
• Maintain gages, tapes, process set-up sheet, operation sketch, fixtures, and tools. Read process sheets and sketches of part and tooling to determine set-up, work sequence, and dimensional sizes. Obtain gages, tapes and process set-up sheets. Determine set-up sequence, dimensions, tolerances and positioning. Position, align, and secure fixtures specified on set-up and operational sketch.
• Assemble and pre-set tools and with the aid of indicators, surface plate, micrometers, gages, special fixture of optical tool setting equipment to predetermined dimensions. Install pre-set tools or set individual tools to tool posts and turrets following specified sequence on process set-up sheet.
• Interface with various control media to bootstrap system, load software, and operate equipment. Controls will vary and will include computer control, microprocessor, etc. Operate machine to verify tape for tool selections, tool setting, speeds and feeds as specified on set-up sheet prior to machining part.
• Monitor cutting action; while machine is operating under automatic cycle gage parts and make necessary control adjustment to maintain size, form, location and finish.
• Use a variety of common and special purpose hand tools and gages to set-up and adjust machines, tools, fixtures and related equipment.
• Perform necessary part marking.
• Work cooperatively with programmer, engineer and supervisor to prove out new tapes, tooling and production and inspection problems.
• Use overhead crane, and other devices to assist in lifting and moving parts and containers.
• Use a variety of precision inspection equipment during machine cycles, tool and fixture set-up, adjustment, and inspection duties. Dimensionally check parts using a wide variety of gages. May be required to touch up part using emery cloth or small file to allow proper gaging application or visual inspection.
• May initiate STOP action on operation if out-of-tolerance conditions are detected. Generate necessary "STOP WORK" order. Call to attention of the appropriate team member.
• A high level of alertness and attentiveness must be maintained over several jobs running simultaneously on multiple pieces of equipment.
• Prior and subsequent processing may involve: vapor degreasing, liquid solvent, and wipe/brush cleaning, air blow-off, oiling, and placement in appropriate containers.
• Follow all environmental control procedures; ensure compliance to all environmental control regulations as defined.
• Maintain accurate log control (QCP 6.0) traceability, record keeping, log book entries, NCR's (QCP 11.0) and associated documentation.
• Chart, plot and react to data per SPC requirement. Load and unload Datamytes.
• May be required to perform more than one operation at a time as directed by the foreman.
• May be required to burr work internal to the cycle.
• Move material within the cell.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must reside within a 50 mile radius of work location; no relocation benefit is provided.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Minimum (3) three years of experience in set-up and operation of CNC turning equipment OR Minimum one (1) year set-up and operation of precision NC/CNC machining.

Position Criteria:
• Become a Certified Operator within 40 days of becoming active on the code.
• Complete an Eaton approved training program within 120 days.
• Pass an Eaton vision test.
