Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Automation Engineer at our location in Lincoln, IL. Relocation assistance is able to be provided to eligible candidates within the United States.

The Automation Engineer's primary objective is to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing operations through the comprehensive planning and strategic deployment of industry 4.0 tools and technologies. This role will lead Manufacturing Engineering efforts that improve operational technology systems by identifying and resolving production and quality issues using automation. He/She will perform a wide variety of tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems as they pertain to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

  • Manage budget, timelines, and objectives for industry 4.0 projects including automation, Digital core, IIoT, additive manufacturing, and systems integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams/resources to execute projects - plant leadership, Information Technology, Operational Excellence, Production, Quality, Facilities and Engineering.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SME) from Electrical Sector Advanced Manufacturing, I4.0, and Process Optimization Teams.
  • Guide and support plant teams on machine connectivity and data acquisition activities.
  • Align automation project objectives with plant continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist manufacturing teams in the development, submission, and approval of business cases for industry 4.0 project opportunities.
  • Train key plant personnel on industry 4.0 tools and technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and sustainment.
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in industry 4.0 tools and technologies to be a SME.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years of technical experience (Intern/Co-op experience allowed).
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% annually.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or related) preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with Power Management, Power Control, Mission Critical, or related systems.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing 3D printing/prototyping
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools (VSM, SW, 3P, Problem Solving, etc.) and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 3D modeling (i.e., AutoCAD, Inventor, Solids Works, etc.)
  • Experience with scripting in Python or similar languages.
  • Strong understating of production/manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Machine Safety / Electrical safety.
  • Proficient with computer and software tools, including advanced Excel capabilities (pivots, macros, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electronic systems, electric cabinets or wiring of hardware (motors, PLC's, sensors, etc.)
  • Ability to read and use wiring, connection, schematic, and ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot control systems.
  • Knowledge of Industrial IoT concepts & solutions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, assembly & test, as well as materials management and quality processes.
  • Knowledge/experience setting up Kepware OPC system.
  • Knowledge or experience with electric safety devices such as, switches, fuses, and breakers.
  • Experience in controls engineering, programming, additive manufacturing, big data, and analytics.
  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming.
  • Understanding of machine connectivity, communication protocols and data management.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and system integration.
