Position Overview:

As a newly hired employee in the Quality Engineer - Aerospace Direct Hire Program, you will be responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, and deploying work procedures and associated process controls as it relates to quality. Review customer/industry/internal specifications to ensure compliance. Facilitate quality processes for transfer of work to and from our facility. This role is part of a high-performance work team and will work closely with operations and front end new product development.

In this function you will:

  • Support first production runs using AS9102 First Article Inspection reports to demonstrate that all engineering design and specification requirements are properly understood and documented.
  • Support the review, containment and disposition of deviations, non-conforming material and product escapes / returns through fast response communications and quality alerts, and leveraging root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques (i.e. 8D and A3) to identify and drive closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop, review and update control plans, and test and inspection procedures to ensure critical risks are identified and manufacturing processes are carried out under controlled conditions.
  • Monitor, analyze, and ultimately reduce process variation using statistical process controls, and partner with operations to reduce the cost of poor quality (e.g. scrap, defects, customer complaints, etc.) and drive continuous improvement (e.g. support kaizen events, daily tier meetings, etc.).
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team including operations, supply chain, and engineering to effectively introduce new products and processes, implement changes, and validate capability to reproduce existing products and processes leveraging Eaton's Advanced Product Quality Plan (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) by performing necessary tests, supporting pFMEAs, collecting documentation, and supporting communications and training.
  • Regularly review and provide feedback on our Quality Management System and participate in audits to improve the effectiveness of our QMS and ensure alignment with IS0 9001, AS9100, AS13100, and other 3rd party certification bodies and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, math, data science, or statistics from an accredited institution, with a graduation date before August 2025
  • Minimum of one internship or co-op experience completed at the time of this application
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Geographic flexibility to relocate within the United States
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Two or more relevant internships or co-op experiences or 1 year of quality engineer experience in a manufacturing environment
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)

Position Criteria:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
  • Position requires interaction with external customers and internal personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Technical proficiency in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) models
  • Thorough understanding of machining, welding, assembly operations, gauging, SPC, APQP, and quality assurance systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
  • Ability to relocate to one of the following Eaton facilities: Davenport, IA or Beltsville, MD
  • This role may include travel (up to 25%) within a local region as determined by the Assignment Manager

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The salary for this role is $80,000 a year, dependent on the work location qualifications met. This position offers a one-time $6,000 signing bonus and lump sum relocation package.
