What you'll do:
The Accounts Receivable Assistant will support the Exertherm AR and Finance team by maintaining accurate customer ledgers and ensuring the timely collection of payments. This role is essential in managing financial transactions, audit and other ad-hoc AR related queries, monthly reconciliations, and credit control while providing excellent service to customers by resolving account queries efficiently.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Group AR assistant to join our global business head quartered in the United Kingdom. The finance team acts as a Shared service centre for the EMEA, APAC and NAM regions. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, the AR assistant will play an important role in maintaining the group's international customer ledger, dealing with customer queries in a timely manner, supporting finance transformation initiatives, ensuring the strict adherence to internal controls, audit and regular process review and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable Management:
• Process and record customer transactions, ensuring accuracy in the accounts receivable ledger.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and ensure prompt follow-up on overdue payments.
• Prepare and issue customer statements, invoices, and credit notes.
Reconciliation and Reporting:
• Perform monthly reconciliations of customer accounts to maintain ledger accuracy.
• Assist in preparing reports on aged debtors and other AR-related metrics.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between ledgers and payments received.
Credit Control:
• Implement credit control procedures to minimize bad debts and ensure customer payments are received on time.
• Conduct credit checks for new customers and set appropriate credit limits.
• Liaise with internal teams to address disputes impacting payment collection.
Customer Interaction:
• Handle customer queries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances promptly and professionally.
• Provide account summaries and support customers in resolving discrepancies.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring excellent service.
Skills/Qualifications:
Essential:
• Previous experience in an accounts receivable, finance, or bookkeeping role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and customers.
Desirable:
• Familiarity with credit control processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of financial practices in a global SME environment.
• AAT qualification or working towards one (or equivalent).
