Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a 1st Shift Manufacturing Engineer Tech. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 12:15 pm. The rate for this position is $23.00 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. What you'll do:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support Manufacturing Engineer by helping to drive continuous improvement in the electrical assembly operations. This position will assist in the conceptualization and execution of capital projects and development of manufacturing methods and processes. The position will support operations, and capital assets (equipment, machinery, building, etc.).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and Critical Outputs:
• Provide support to the floor issues with respect to assembly, warehouse, fabrication, and testing areas.
• Support functions including production floor follow-up, set-up reduction, Kaizen events, and new product introduction.
• Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, including tooling, fixtures and processes.
• You will assist in the determination of manufacturing methods, machinery, or capacity to produce parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for new products or customer orders consistent with overall plant objectives.
• You will confer with engineering and production personnel on design changes and new product development programs.
• You will evaluate and implement the operation of new and existing machinery, tooling and other equipment.
• You will conduct time/motion studies to evaluate manufacturing capacities, costs, work cell layouts, and optimize manufacturing efficiencies.
• You will provide support to Eaton Lean Systems, Eaton Quality Systems, MESH and Pro Launch to achieve and maintain required levels of certification and performance.
• You will support plant process changes via the Change Management Process.
• You will generate, investigate, evaluate and implement cost improvement ideas and opportunities.
• You will gather data, information, time studies, and general process knowledge to help determine best utilization of equipment, facilities, material flow and personnel.
• Contributes in the procurement and start-up of new capital equipment (including ROI) for acquisition of equipment to support developing and existing projects as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Minimum Experience Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality tools (e.g. Kaizen, time study, VSM, PFMEA, problem solving tools) and safety management tools
• 3 years of relevant experience
• No relocation is provided for this position, only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the El Paso, TX facility will be considered.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.
• Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1-2 years of engineering technician experience in an electrical manufacturing environment
• Ability to read engineering drawings, understanding of basic CAD and drafting principles.
• Ability in the use of engineering and productivity tools (CAD software, Office suite and AS400)
• Experience with metal fabrication equipment (operating, troubleshooting, and maintenance) and manufacturing execution systems.
• Ability to develop and implement equipment TPM's
• Experience working with electrical switchboards
Specialized Knowledge:
• Demonstrated proficiency with Eaton systems and tools, including: AS-400 and DMM
• Knowledge of Eaton's internal quality policies and standards
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication, organizational and computer skills
• Effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflict, develop employees and facilitate corrective action while fostering an environment that supports Eaton values & philosophy.
• Change agent with strategic focus and executive command
• Ability to work in a highly unstructured and ambiguous environment
• Extensive knowledge and technical expertise in ETO processes and engineering methods.
• Excellent Design Software (CAD) and engineering tool knowledge and skill
