About the Role & Team
As a Mechanical Engineer in the Ride & Show Mechanical Engineering (R&SME) group at Walt Disney World, you have a responsibility in the development, management, and execution of various engineering projects at Walt Disney World. What does that mean? Well, the work could involve various types of theme park attractions, including but not limited to roller coasters, round rides, omni movers, water flume rides, animatronics, parade floats, transportation, hotels, and resorts. You will work alongside other mechanical engineers, designers, and ride control engineers and perform design reviews with Design Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Walt Disney Imagineering. You will also support Facilities Asset Management and other aforementioned partners on the progress of your projects. You will report to the Manager of Engineering. This is a project hire role and has no guarantee of permanent placement at the end of the project.

What You Will Do
Primary responsibilities will include performing job captain duties on small to large projects. This may include design, component specification, engineering, hazard analysis, manufacturing support, installation, acceptance testing, post-turnover support, and general project management. Other responsibilities include mentoring interns and supporting a second set of eyes approach to ensure compliance with the design workflow process, standards, and codes.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum one year of experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment, such as large conveyance systems, automotive, or large robotic systems.
- Demonstrate positive relationship skills working with technical groups and multidiscipline teams
- Demonstrate strong partnering skills with partners and customers
- Standout colleague with excellent communication skills
- Proficiency using Engineering and Design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing classical and/or computer-based engineering analysis by applying hand calculations, FEA software or MathCAD.
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the mechanical engineering field to the completion of difficult assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum year of proven experience with Disney design standards or equivalent and ASTM F24.
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Sciences or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited college or university.
