Job Description:

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the design, development, testing, certification, and delivery activities for one or more of the contact & contactless chip technologies, mobile payments and other emerging technology based solutions for card acceptance devices as well as payment devices. Contribute to areas of development of the product technology such as specifications development including functional features and security features. Provide support to develop testing requirements, testing capabilities, certification requirements and certification program design. Work with vendors such as card & chip manufacturers, test laboratories, test tool providers, and mobile application developers, to enable support for the payment products.
  • Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

How You'll Do It

  • Design and develop new payment technologies for card acceptance devices and payment devices (such as contact & contactless chip, mobile & cloud based payments etc.)
  • Develops certification requirements and compliance program for new payment technology based products.
  • Participate in the development in payment specifications within relevant standardization organizations. Communicates, educates, and collaborates with stakeholders about new and updated standards and specifications.
  • Works with vendors and external partners to ensure delivery of the best quality services to Discover.
  • Support the testing and certification team to develop testing requirements and test procedures for new payment technology based products.

Qualifications You'll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience as Payment Technology R&D or similar
  • In lieu of a degree, Experience as Payment Technology R&D or similar

Bonus Points If You Have

  • OEM wallets, Secure Element technology and iOS applet and SDK development experience
  • Experience working with EMV payments systems, mobile payment technologies including cloud-based payments and secure elements.
  • Deep understanding of EMV Functional requirements
  • Having knowledge of EMV Security requirements would be an added advantage.
