About the role:
This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the heart of Diageo's renowned Whisky Specialist Team, taking new whisky concepts, bringing them to reality & delivering our incredible whisky portfolio for our customers & consumers. We are looking for an individual, passionate about whisky, with a broad understanding of whisky production processes, products and application of knowledge to deliver business benefit.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Ideally, you will come from a scientific / technology background with a degree level academic qualification and will have developed specialist skills in whisky production, sensory capability and laboratory analysis, with at least equivalent to 5+ years expertise within the whisky industry.
- You'll be someone that can hold quality as paramount, while challenging the status quo and welcoming challenge themselves. You'll be adept at finding novel solutions, able to multitask on diverse projects and be clear about shifting priorities and demands.
- You'll be able to establish excellent relationships at all levels, internal and external, exerting a high degree of influence. And you'll have exceptional presentation skills and ability to describe sensory characteristics, product and process knowledge with passion.
- Ideally the successful candidate will have recent experience of working in the whisky industry.
- Experience of working with SAP, whisky inventory management tools & sensory data collection systems would be advantageous.
- The role holder is expected to have excellent Excel skills, be organised & methodical, with great attention to detail. Sensory skills (nosing) is also critical to the role.
- The role holder will support our whisky specialists in the creation, development and maintenance of market-leading whisk(e)y products. The role is highly collaborative and your skills will be in demand by other members of the team, internal stakeholders and external partners.
- This is a role with lots of pace where you will be dealing with a range of diverse projects at any one time and the multiple priorities and stakeholders that come with those projects. Along with this, you will always be learning and expanding your knowledge of distilled and matured spirits, surrounded by others who share your passion.
