Manager, Pre-Mix Insights & Selling Strategy

Pre-Mix is one of Diageo's top three critical priorities. Winning in Pre-Mix is critical to maintaining TBA share, as Pre-Mix is outpacing all other categories of spirits. Pre-Mix will be responsible for a projected 81% of all spirits growth over the next three years, and ~70% of Pre-Mix volume flows through retailers.

We are looking for a dynamic and high-energy self-starter to lead our Pre-mix Insights and Selling Strategy. Your focus will be driving the growth of RTS and RTD through category recommendations, data analysis, and masterful storytelling!

You will be responsible for providing retailer-specific category recommendations through a fact-based approach: category assessment, planogram assessment, assortment optimization, promotional planning and evaluation, shopper insights, loyalty card analytics, etc. You will be tasked with harnessing data, advanced analytics and other research to predict shopper behavior and trends.

Collaboration is extremely key to succeeding in this role, as you will sit on the Pre-Mix team and in the spirits commercialization org.

Purpose of Role:
  • To work collaboratively with the Pre-Mix team and spirits commercial organization to drive our strategic channel initiatives & lead key outputs to our Leadership team.
  • To deliver key processes, tools, and insights that arm our sales organization with this best information to differentiate themselves from the competitive set and provide the most value creating initiatives to our chain customers.
  • To harmonize our data & insights into systems that deliver easy to digest & source, helpful information that leads to greater share & profit growth.
  • Harnessing data, advanced analytics and other research to predict shopper behavior and category trends
  • Delivery of insights to support standard category management practices: shelf management, promotion planning/analysis, merchandising and other retail execution while working with broader category/insights team
  • Over deliver upon our Customer needs and driving mutually beneficial solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop impactful category analyses, consumer insights and solutions that drive profitable sales growth using a range of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources.
  • Utilize various sources such as internal customer data, syndicated data, loyalty card data, and research to solve current business issues, define category and consumer trends, and identify business opportunities to create fact-based recommendations and customer presentations.
  • Ensure delivery of category management best practices: shelf management, promotion planning/analysis, pricing analysis, and business development projects.
  • Creation and maintenance of category scorecards with proactive recommendations on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of fact-based actionable consumer and shopper insights relevant to customer needs.
  • Provide planogram support through pre/post reset data analysis, database maintenance, and thought leadership on merchandising principles.
  • Assist the sales team with selling stores, market level analysis, and ad-hoc reporting to help differentiate themselves from the competitive set and provide value creating initiatives for the customer.
  • Assume expert role and ownership of assigned tools, processes, and tasks.
  • Leverage data to draw insights, opportunity locators, and risk mitigation that is clearly communicated to in-market teams.
  • Development of Hypotheses, Research Plans and Synthesis of all shopper insights, with a focus on predicting future opportunities
  • Identify and develop impactful category analyses, consumer insights and solutions that drive profitable sales growth using a range of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources.
  • Execution & Syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen) reporting that delivers data-backed insights to both influence retailers, customers & make recommendations to key internal collaborators.
  • Performance Tracking across a variety of brands, programs, customers, and markets. Identify areas of opportunity and communicate these findings to key internal partners and customers.
  • Develop & maintain reporting tools that can be used by our sales teams to identify key areas of opportunity & improve sales performance & execution.
  • Contribute to Leadership & Customer business reviews through compelling data-driven stories. Present findings and make recommendations to key partners.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape to leverage Insights & Best Practices for short/long term strategic planning.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience required, preferably Insights and/or Category Management experience in CPG or Beverage Category
  • Proven ability in Data & Analytics with a focus on Commercial Performance in the Consumer Goods Industry
  • Expertise in Excel & PowerPoint with advanced functions
  • Experience working and designing MS PowerBI data dashboards and data queries; VIP/iDIG
  • Ability to deliver key insights and influence senior internal and external partners through use of data & analytics backed storytelling
  • Resourceful & proactive, prioritizing attention to detail, sense of urgency, and great follow-up
