Role Context

This is a key role within the Baileys Category leading the team that delivers global Brand Change and Innovation projects for Baileys Original Irish Cream & Flavours, Sheridan's, Value Brands and Roe & Co Irish Whiskey and range extensions. The team, consisting of 20 Supply Project Managers and Liquid Development experts, deliver approximately 5-10 major innovation projects and 40-50 other projects each year.

You will report to the Head of the Baileys Category and you will be responsible for providing expert technical input to the Baileys Category. Your key objective will be to deliver the strategic Baileys Category Innovation plan, which includes New Product Commercialisation, Brand Value Engineering and Sustainability projects for both packaging and liquid.

The following are some of the projects your team would be expected to manage:

  • New to world liqueurs
  • Range extensions to current parent brands
  • Develop partnerships with 3rd party research organisations and suppliers.
  • COGs reduction of up to €1m p.a.
  • Sustainability projects which support the delivery of the Diageo Society 2030 Goals


Key Responsibilities

  • Your success in the role will depend on ability to develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business environment, and coordinate across several functions within and outside the Category. This will be largely realised through the achievements of your team and the effective management, control and deployment of resources to deliver against the Innovation growth ambitions.
  • Management of a team of SPMs (Supply Project Managers) and Liquid Technology Experts who deliver concept development, commercialisation and roll-out.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with GBT (Global Brand Team), Markets, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain etc to deliver Innovation, Renovation, Packaging Change, Legal/Regulatory and Diageo Corporate projects.
  • Provide support as required to other areas of the Baileys Category - including procurement, operations, quality, governance.
  • Cross-functional working with liquid development, suppliers, and other areas of Diageo Supply and Technical
  • Team Development
  • Close working with central technical function to implement new systems and process in relation to Brand Change project management and delivery.
  • Member of the Baileys Category Leadership team


Experience, Skills & Capabilities Required
  • Technical expert within Dairy
  • Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to manage, provide leadership and cut through in the face of ambiguity
  • Successful candidates will have technical experience and performance leadership skills, dynamic cross-functional interaction and effective project management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive people management experience
  • Significant project management experience
  • Minimum primary degree in Sciences, Business, Manufacturing Engineering. Degree in Food/Dairy Science is an advantage
