The BI Director for Europe, Africa and Asia will act as a trusted advisor and leader, by understanding the respective region's risk and control landscape in order to advise as to the region's compliance-related needs and provide strategic oversight.

The role will be the first point of contact for the Regional President, positioning the BI function as a culture enabler that promotes ethical and compliant behaviour across all levels, while unlocking delivering or ‘our most trusted and respected' growth ambition. The incumbent will understand and monitor the region's risk and control landscape to provide targeted advice on compliance-related needs and ensure risks are proactively identified and addressed - and will be available to ‘lean in' to specific market opportunities and challenges, within the region, where greater expertise and support is required on specific matters, while embracing, adapting and scaling programmes for impact across key markets.

Leadership responsibilities

Proven capability to act as a thought leader and trusted advisor across all levels of the organization, influencing senior stakeholders (e.g., GMs, FDs, Counsel, GAR) to drive accountability and uphold compliance and ethical standards. Strategic BI business partner to regional president and market partner, when greater weighting and support at a market level is required.

Ability to act as a culture enabler by promoting a strong tone-at-the-top, fostering leadership accountability, and embedding a proactive and ethical compliance culture across diverse markets.

Successful management of senior stakeholders at all levels and proven ability to hold others to account, resulting in strong and positive outcomes.

Leadership of locally dispersed market BI resource.

The key responsibilities of the role will include following:
  • Member of the BI LT: Thought leadership on implementing the Spirit of Integrity Framework and BI talent development.
  • Regional Risk Management and Governance: Lead periodic governance forums, such as Regional Management Committees (RMCs), with a focus on proactive risk management and addressing emerging risks through preventive measures. Review trends and oversee monitoring and analytics to simplify and enhance risk management processes. Oversee regional governance reporting and sign-off processes, including submissions to committees such as the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • Global strategy responsibility: The BI Regional Lead will take on a global strategic leadership role in two to three key areas, such as: Conflict of Interest, Gifts & Entertainment and Anti-Money Laundering, Anti Bribery Anti Corruption. This role involves shaping and driving the global strategy for these focus areas, ensuring alignment with regional and global priorities and fostering best practices across markets.
  • Policy Implementation and Culture: Provide strategic expertise in embedding of global policies and standards within the region, tailoring interventions to address local needs. Act as a culture enabler by fostering a strong tone-at-the-top and ensuring leadership accountability in promoting ethical and compliant behavior across all markets within the region. Lead tailored engagement strategies to proactively embed the Code of Business Conduct (COBC) and related policies, reinforcing a culture of integrity at all levels.
  • Training, communication and awareness: Strategic partnership with Global BI & Learning & Development team in developing and monitoring the effectiveness of region-specific education and training programs on the Code and policies including regional Integrity Days and Ethics comments. Deliver targeted communication initiatives to enhance ethical awareness and understanding of compliance responsibilities among employees and stakeholders. Contribute as a faculty member to the BI Academy, facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building.
  • Speak Up Investigations: Oversee the region's breach management process, ensuring timely support for investigations, remediation efforts, consistent escalation pathways and application of consequences. Conduct root cause analyses of regional breaches to identify systemic issues, inform "lessons learned," and communicate preventive measures across the region.
  • Monitoring and Oversight of BI Controls: Ensure effective monitoring of key BI controls such as Gifts & Entertainment (G&E) and Conflicts of Interest (COI), leveraging data analytics and automation tools to identify trends and address risks. Provide subject matter expertise on BI effectiveness reviews and provide guidance on improvements transitioning from a Monitor to a Risk Governor.
  • Regulatory and Business Change Management: Lead business change projects to embed new regulations, ensuring the region is prepared for and compliant with evolving regulatory landscapes. Advice on alignment between BI leadership and local teams to ensure consistent implementation of regulatory updates and BI initiatives, while incorporating horizon scanning for emerging risks such as AI, digital trust, and evolving fraud prevention standards to proactively address future challenges.
  • Programme effectiveness: Regularly measure the effectiveness of regional programs in cultivating an ethical culture, including training outcomes, investigations analysis, and Speaking Up reviews.Team leadership and talent development: Provide career development input and assist with talent assessments for BI market leads across the region, supporting cross-market resourcing and leadership development.


Experience and skills required
  • We have an essential requirement for our successful candidate to be a qualified lawyer, along with 12+ years' experience in a global compliance function of a large international company, or in providing consulting services in the areas of governance, risk, compliance and ethics.
  • Strategic Risk Management Expertise, including the use of governance tools and frameworks to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Deep understanding of global compliance standards, including the Code of Business Conduct (COBC), policies related to Conflicts of Interest (COI), Gifts & Entertainment (G&E), and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent ‘external radar'; constantly scanning for potential issues, threats and opportunities in the external environment and ability to assess relevance and prioritise actions/responses.
  • Proficiency in using data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) to monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), analyze trends, and generate actionable insights to enhance compliance efforts and risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to guide and coach market BI Leads and team members, align cross-market efforts, and foster collaboration between global and regional teams.
