Position Summary

Specialist Leader-Technology Resiliency

Our Cloud Engineering offering focuses on enabling our client's end-to-end journey from on-premise or co-location to the Cloud. We help them see the transformational capabilities as an opportunity for business enablement by improving their agility and resilience, identifying opportunities to reduce IT operations spend through automation resulting in competitive advantage. We accelerate our clients towards a technology-driven future, leveraging vendor solutions and Deloitte-developed software products, tools, and accelerators.

Our Technology Resiliency practice is a key part of the Cloud Engineering offering. As clients across industries continue to increase their digital footing, the need to build resilient IT operations and architecture has become more urgent now than ever due to technology's direct impact on customers and business reputation. Our practitioners help clients foster an engineering mindset that shifts the culture and brings resiliency to the forefront. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SRE Observability and Chaos Engineering Lead to build assets and drive the development and implementation of practices and engineering initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring our client systems' reliability, scalability, and performance by leveraging innovative technologies and methodologies.

Work you'll do

As part of our team, you will engage with practitioners and professionals from various disciplines within our consulting practices and clients' organizations. During engagements, exposure to multiple technologies will allow you to become an expert and expand your skillset into new areas. As a Resiliency Specialist Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and recoverability of our clients' cloud-based systems and services. This involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance the resiliency of their cloud infrastructure, minimizing the impact of potential disruptions, and contributing to the organization's overall success.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience with at least one of the following hyper-scale platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle)
  • 5+ years' experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with a focus on observability or chaos engineering roles
  • 3+ years of proven experience in resiliency and reliability with a focus on:
    • implementing redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery solutions
    • observability practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing
    • chaos engineering to proactively test and improve system resilience
  • 3+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience and large-scale, enterprise-class consulting or systems integration experience
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, GoLang, or JavaScript
  • Knowledge and Experience in JavaScript, Python, Azure CLI, and Linux shell
  • Knowledge and Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS Cloud Formation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, and Terraform
  • Experience in assisting the Senior leadership team in designing technology, developing current and future state landscapes, and developing an overall solution strategy
  • Ability to travel 50% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred

  • Experience in documenting and explaining cloud computing (hybrid, public, community, and private) infrastructure solution architectures
  • Team leadership skills, knowledge, and expertise in the delivery of cloud computing (hybrid, public, community, and private) based solutions
  • Ability to engineer, build, and test solutions to achieve optimum throughput and required reliability
  • Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Excel. Macro coding skills a plus
  • Proven history in implementing successful observability strategies using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, etc.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), VMware, and Azure certification
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure and service availability throughout the system life cycle
  • A demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives that drive cultural change within large organizations
  • System Development methodology familiarity, people/soft, leadership, and presentation skills

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $193,725 to $322,875.
