Global Trade Advisory (GTA) Specialist Leader
Deloitte Tax is seeking a top-performing Global Trade Advisory (GTA) Specialist Leader to serve as an advisor in our firm's integrated approach to Sustainability services (trade, tax and supply chain). This individual will help enable our clients to strategically plan for compliance and opportunities under various legislation, such as: global carbon measurement and reporting regulations (e.g., the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), environmental and content measurement requirements for importers (e.g., EU Plastics and Packaging regulations), US Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), opportunities related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Applicants should have extensive background and experience with US trade requirements (specifically the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations), quality professional relationships and an extensive network of relevant professionals in the public and private sectors and industry Sustainability experiences regarding multi-national importers/exporters management of these obligations and opportunities.

Our Global Trade Sustainability and Environment Capabilities will help clients address several key challenges that they face today, including:
- Compliance with US and global trade regulations and requirements
- Enabling sustainable supply chains
- Automating trade-related ESG reporting, including controls & auditability
- Managing supply chain and supply chain transaction partner risks
- Mitigation or remediation, investigative support
Work You Will Do
The GTA Specialist Leader role is that of a multi-dimensional strategic leader with expertise at the intersection of trade, environment, human rights, and technology. This leader has deep experience from a US and global regulatory strategic leadership perspective and understands the complexity and intersection of trade and supply chain, with experience driving technical and organizational change while implementing commensurate global trade strategy, global trade compliance, and transparency to complex global supply chains. This practitioner will be responsible for:
- Leading in the cross-functional marketing and delivery strategies across Deloitte teams
- Driving market growth within the US (all jurisdictions) - leveraging their expertise and relationships to secure new clients, expand current client engagements, and bring innovative ideas to market specifically around IRA, UFLPA, and global import requirements like CBAM.
- Maintaining a robust, trusted network across the global trade, sustainability, climate community and leveraging these executive level relationships to introduce Deloitte LLP, and create and pursue selling opportunities
- Delivering accurate and timely customer, pipeline, and forecast data
- Overseeing internal sales activities to ensure consistent approach to marketplace across geography and industry groups
- Managing proposal development and make live oral presentations that win new business
- Representing Deloitte by spending time with clients and at conferences
- Working trade and technology sales initiatives to embed sustainability services in digital transformation and/or automation opportunities
- Positioning Deloitte's proprietary platform, assets, and relevant ecosystem partners to help in their continuous innovation efforts, improve operational efficiency, lower the client's risk to adoption, and allow business to scale when outcomes are proven
- Supporting and/or developing direct marketing campaigns
- Assisting account teams to qualify and win opportunities
- Valuing teamwork, fostering relationships, and developing consensus
The successful candidate will possess:
- Expertise in global trade and relevant trade and tax regulatory requirements; multinational experience preferred
- Possess experience in market trends corporate sustainability planning and data access implementation
- Significant business relationships with senior client executives
- Ability to work as a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to turn an understanding of deeply technical information into actionable strategies
- Strong presentation skills and experience with proposal orals
- An ability to gain access and influence decision-makers at the highest levels in client organizations
- Self-starter able to independently leverage experience and existing relationships to drive new market growth
The team
The US GTA team, in partnership with the US Tax Sustainability Strategic Growth Offering (SGO), is a rapidly growing cross-business team that requires outstanding, innovative, and engaging professionals to join our team. The GTA Sustainability team is privileged to be working on one of the most pressing and topical business and societal issues of our time. Through our services, we help our clients understand, engage with, and act on their sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within in a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
- 10+ years of prior success as a trade policy and strategy leader/or global trade-related sales professional, with 5+ years of experience in information technology/systems and 2+ years of experience selling or delivering trade-related sustainability and/or trade environmental services or solutions
- Successful track record of business development of global trade-related products and services
- Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- Bachelor's degree in a legal, business or technology related field
- Business management and financial leadership experience indicating ability to plan and manage budgets, financials, and operations
- Experience leading and managing global project teams
- One of the following active accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications:
- US Customhouse Broker's License
- CUSECO (Certified U.S. Export Control Officer)
- Where applicable, non-US citizen qualifying credentials:
- Foreign equivalent of the above certifications
- CUSICO (Certified US Import Compliance Officer
- Professional Accreditation in EU Customs Law (post masters)
- Technology Certifications:
- CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
- Certified SAFe Lean Portfolio Manager
- Certified SAFe Architect
- Certified SAFe Agile Software Engineer
- Certified SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, Nevada, New York state, and Washington state and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $156,170 to $290,030.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
