This role will support all employment-related legal matters for the Health Care Delivery business, and will also report to the SVP and Assistant General Counsel - Health Care Delivery.Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and practical legal advice to the Health Care Delivery business and its senior leaders on all relevant federal, state and local labor and employment laws and provide timely and actionable guidance based on an understanding of the business and priorities.
  • Manage employment-related claims and litigation.
  • Provide advice and counsel to business partners across Health Care Delivery business lines regarding risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide advice and ensure consistency in application of progressive discipline and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide legal guidance on provider workforce strategy.
  • Work to harmonize existing employment law policies and practices in the stand-alone entities to ensure there is a cohesive approach to employment law across the Health Care Delivery portfolio of businesses.
  • Advise on provider related employment issues, including provider compensation arrangements.
  • Manage restrictive covenants, draft documents, and effectively negotiate the resolution of adverse matters.
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel on state and federal administrative charges, demand letters, claims, and litigation to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service.
  • Review processes and policies related to employment matters to enhance guidelines, policies, procedures, and trainings.
  • Draft and negotiate complex employment-related agreements, including provider agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with new laws and to identify initiatives to improve employee satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a law firm or in-house position with a focus on employment law nationwide.
  • Licensed to practice law and member in good standing of a state bar.
  • Strong litigation and litigation management experience.
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally.
  • Knowledge of provider-related regulatory laws (e.g. Anti-Kickback laws, Stark).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with provider-related labor and employment issues in a health care organization strongly preferred.
  • Experience with provider licensing, credentialing and scope of practice issues.
  • 5+ years' experience communicating with senior levels within a large organization.

The typical pay range for this role is:$175,100.00 - $334,750.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
