Job Summary
Equinix is seeking a candidate to fulfill a Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory role. This is a global role, with the candidate primarily responsible for providing regulatory guidance and support to the business, as a member of the Global Regulatory Office. As Senior Legal Counsel, this role will advise the business on these matters in alignment with corporate and strategic objectives, and its corporate risk profile, in a manner that supports the business objectives of Equinix as a whole.
Responsibilities
- Provide regulatory guidance and support to the business, with a focus on the regulatory and compliance framework for the business. Willingness to embrace and work on a wide spectrum of regulatory issues, including but not limited to, telecommunications regulation/licensing, cybersecurity laws, critical national infrastructure laws, power licensing laws, international trade and other relevant areas of laws that are appliable to Equinix's business
- Collaborate with other regulatory and compliance teams globally within One Legal to coordinate for an overall regional regulatory guidance framework for Equinix businesses, which is consistent with the Equinix global regulatory guidance framework.
- Collaborate with Public Policy and Government Affairs team on emerging legislative and regulatory issues to determine impact to Equinix and provide guidance on potential legislative and regulatory changes
- Identify opportunities/potential risks to the Equinix business, work closely with senior members of the legal team and other internal stakeholders to implement and drive regional regulatory affairs improvement initiatives, including designing a regulatory and compliance framework, programs and policies
- Maintain existing regulatory database and ensure clear and concise regulatory inputs are updated timely to enable operational excellence
- Be sensitive and stay updated on the regulatory landscape and emerging regulatory policies and trends in order to contribute to, impact and analyse opportunities for the Company
- Conducting presentations, training and educating the business team members on the regulatory and, compliance framework, programs and policies
- Managing external legal counsel when applicable or when local law input is required to provide legal support for the business activities
- Functioning as part of the wider global legal team, including engaging with other departments, providing input on regulatory issues, undertaking any global projects, initiatives, deals, corporate or other commercial transactions as may arise or be assigned
Qualifications
- More than 12 years of experience as a regulatory lawyer with experience in international trade regulations, restrictions and practices and in two or more areas directly relevant to this role as identified in the 'Primary Roles and Responsibilities' section above
- Some in house experience (either as a full-time role or by way of secondment experience) is desirable
- Experience of working in an international business environment is desirable
- Excellent knowledge of the regulatory framework applicable to a US-hearquartered multinational technology and/or telecommunications company
- Adaptable, flexible, pragmatic and solution-oriented, you must be willing to handle tough legal and regulatory challenges in the digital and information age and to create innovative solutions to complex regulatory and licensing requirements and issues in order to help Equinix build and deploy innovative products and services globally
- Prepared to use technology tools
- Articulate, with great communication and drafting skills
- Competent, accurate, proactive, resourceful, independent, organized, able to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, address risk, achieve results, an effective time manager with strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple departments
The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $191,000 to $287,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
