DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Tax Manager to join our team specializing in Finance for our Corporate Tax Department in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
- Expert Tax Guidance: Provide expert advice on national, local, international, and other tax laws, ensuring the organization remains compliant and strategically positioned.
- Compliance Assurance: Oversee the preparation of tax returns and related reports, ensuring they meet all relevant legal requirements and deadlines.
- Regulatory Analysis: Research and interpret current and emerging tax regulations, analyzing their impact on the corporation and advising on necessary adjustments.
- Tax Management: Manage tax returns, reconciliations, and projects related to the application of tax law across various jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate with business units to provide guidance on tax regulations, helping them navigate complex tax landscapes and make informed decisions.
- Issue Resolution: Respond to tax notices, ensure controls, and risk frameworks are monitored and updated. Ensure appropriate provisions are maintained for accounting purposes.
- Audit Management: Handle tax audits and interactions with tax authorities, representing the organization's interests and ensuring favorable outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Expertise in Tax Systems and Regulations: Strong knowledge of African tax systems, including corporate tax, VAT, customs duties, payroll taxes, and transfer pricing. Professional tax qualifications from relevant jurisdictions will be beneficial.
- Experience in Managing Tax Controversy: Proven experience in handling disputes and building effective relationships with tax authorities across the African/Middle East region. Your ability to anticipate challenges, negotiate outcomes, and resolve issues efficiently will be crucial.
- Risk Management Skills: Ability to identify and manage tax risks across the region, including developing and implementing robust tax control frameworks to ensure compliance and mitigate potential issues.
- Communication and Negotiation Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of managing complex audits and disputes. Your ability to effectively manage relationships with tax authorities and internal stakeholders will be key to your success.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting required.
- Certified Public Accountant,
- Chartered Accountant or similar certification preferred.
- Significant experience required, including supervisory experience.
