DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision and in accordance with Cummins Delegation of Authority Policy, this role determines the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule or independent customer demand. It also involves expediting purchase or production orders as appropriate to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.

  • Follow applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.
  • Perform quality checks on material planning master data (lead time, order quantities, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to address non-conforming materials efficiently.

Delivery:

  • Initiate purchase and work orders aligned with the demand plan.
  • Participate in allocation discussions with Sourcing Managers and suppliers.
  • Collaborate to reduce lead times, manage order quantities, and balance supply with demand.
  • Reposition excess inventory to meet demand requirements across locations.
  • Manage part change requests, ramp-up/ramp-down activities, and obsolete inventory.
  • Reconcile order boards for critical suppliers and address past due orders.
  • Provide timely updates on inventory availability and recovery plans.
  • Support supplier improvement initiatives to enhance performance metrics.
  • Document, communicate, and follow up on action items to execute plans effectively.

  • Participate in improvement projects focusing on safety, quality, process optimization, and material flow.

  • Materials Planning System Utilization : Proficient in using tools like Oracle and Excel for supply and demand planning.
  • Part Change Control Management : Manages part changes to meet delivery needs while minimizing inventory impacts.
  • Plan for Every Part (PFEP) : Applies PFEP principles to ensure timely delivery of parts across the supply chain.
  • Master Supply Scheduling : Aligns schedules with operational resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Materials KPI Management : Analyzes performance metrics to drive improvements while balancing trade-offs.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Significant relevant work experience in materials planning, supplier management & scheduling, manufacturing, or inventory control.
  • Specialized skills in related fields acquired through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Skills:

  • Stakeholder management to ensure collaboration across departments.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge for data analysis and reporting.
