DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented School to Work - Student to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Cost Reduction : By creating Request for Quote bid packages, you'll help drive cost reduction activities, contributing to the company's financial efficiency.
  • Order Management : Working with the Buyers on evaluating and updating Oracle purchase orders will keep the procurement process efficient and accurate. This includes supporting buyers and suppliers in correcting any payment issues with accounts payable.
  • Global Supplier Network : Initiating disclosure agreements with potential suppliers will expand and diversify the company's supply base, enhancing global sourcing capabilities.
  • Process Improvement : Your involvement in these activities will help identify opportunities for process improvements, driving overall efficiency.
  • Data Accuracy : Ensuring accurate and up-to-date information in all your tasks will enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office : Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools will enable you to efficiently handle tasks such as data analysis, report creation, and presentation development.
  • Adaptability and Learning : Being able to learn on the job in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple priorities will help you stay agile and effective in your role.
  • Independent and Team Work : The ability to work independently when needed, as well as collaborate effectively within teams, will ensure you can handle tasks autonomously and contribute to group efforts.

  • Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities will enable you to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Analytics or other related fields
  • Post-Secondary:
  • Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Additional Information:

The primary role of the school-to-work - Purchasing is to support the direct Purchasing team as needed on a multitude of programs, updating procedures, working with cross-functional internal and external customers and suppliers. The student will, at the same time, gain real world experience and education in the field of material management and data analytics in a business-to-business environment.

Ability to problem solve supplier and plant issues is preferred.

Creating and following through with RFQ's to key suppliers is preferred

Proficiency with MS Office (excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Various Purchasing Systems is a plus.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
