DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Skilled Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support Manufacturing Needs : Perform skilled activities that directly support the manufacturing business, using appropriate tools and equipment with minimal guidance.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance : Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards by reporting hazards, using personal protective equipment, and engaging in HSE training.
  • Maintain High Quality Standards : Apply high standards of workmanship, support equipment uptime, and perform quality inspections to ensure product excellence.
  • Optimize Equipment Performance : Conduct preventive, emergency, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities, ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Promote a Safe Work Environment : Recognize and correct hazards, promote interdependence among colleagues, and minimize environmental impact through safe practices.
  • Enhance Process Efficiency : Work with peers to identify and reduce manufacturing constraints, solve problems, and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Communicate Effectively : Maintain clear communication with your team and support staff, ensuring smooth operations and collaboration.
  • Contribute to Team Development : Participate in training and personal development, and actively engage with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams to improve quality, safety, and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information

  • Controls Engineering Technician is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Controls systems and processes within ATF.
  • Support all areas of ATF, including ISX Assembly, 12L Assembly, Test and FPM as a member of the ATF Support Team.

Key responsibilities

  • Focus on completing improvements to PC-based systems in ATF including Test Cells, ECM Programming, ETS Stands, Falsifying processes, and eSBM.
  • Participate in the MCR, ER and Deviation processes.
  • Review documents for any impacts that will affect functionality of production systems.
  • Maintain the fail-safe tracking system and support Automation HMI and PLC Systems.
  • Install and support Ethernet communication to PC or PLC based equipment.
  • Ability/willingness to troubleshoot engine harness for Test systems or specify design for new product changes.
  • Develop and maintain the eSBM system.
  • Actively participate in the Maximo Work Order process.
  • Actively support New Product build processes.

Safety Focus/Housekeeping

  • Follows all HSE rules, PPE requirements and safe practices.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized to avoid HSE incidents.
  • Participates in HSE projects within the work area.
  • Participates in 5S and cleanliness initiatives during downtime.
  • Maintains an up-to-date HSE training record.
  • Completes yearly required hearing test (and physical, if applicable) in month designated by Medical Department.
  • Renews PIV and/or hoist licensing on time.
  • Completes the Safety Pledge.

Quality Focus

  • Participates in Quality Projects. Occasionally offers feedback for continuous improvement ideas.
  • Occasionally helps to implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Recognizes and notifies the appropriate team or individual of quality concerns.
