Job Summary:
Leads problem solving and assurance of zero-defect mindset of the direct material suppliers at the assigned site. The objective of this work is to collaborate with the assigned suppliers and partner with other resources at Cummins to lead the improvement of site supplier quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the supplier corrective action process, including Containment, Interim Corrective Action, and identification of assignable cause at the assigned site. May lead or support development of permanent corrective actions while providing process oversight and guidance. Support and influence PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Processes. Serve as a quality technical resource to other functional areas. Support and/or lead quality audits at the assigned site. Drives and leads the prioritization of continuous improvement efforts with cross functional key business partners to reduce defects by utilizing industry proven methodologies e.g. lean manufacturing, six sigma, A3, 7 step problem solving, Intelligent Quality Tools & Methods, AIAG core tools, etc.). Design onsite VPI (Values Package Introduction) product launch plans and support or lead onsite activities. Measure supplier quality performance for all direct material suppliers at the assigned site according to established procedures and collaborate with suppliers to identify appropriate improvements to meet established targets. Coach and mentor quality practices with less experienced team members. May manage and/or develop others.

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, "Metrology" e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and disciplines. Drives actions to minimize, monitor and control risks and issues and to maximize the most positive outcomes possible.
Quality 4.0 - Leverages cloud-based systems and digitization to drive improved quality outcomes. Knowledge and application of Quality 4.0 (Q4.0) and digitization of quality management. Examples of Q4.0 are cloud native software applications, digital twin, simulation, adaptive intelligence and connected systems.
Quality Influence - Ability to recognize stakeholders, create a forum to professionally extract stakeholder perspectives, drive and engage in constructive conflict, and to influence outcomes in order to ensure Cummins makes a balanced decision inclusive of Quality priorities.
Interpreting Technical Requirements - Applying knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles and Engineering Standards to correctly interpret the technical requirements of an engineering drawing; Applying knowledge to improve a product's design for manufacturability and measurability.
Manufacturing Process Validation - Applying core Automotive tools (i.e. DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, Source Release and PPAP) to validate that a manufacturing process can consistently meet technical and customer requirements.
Auditing - Applying auditing skills and techniques and Quality Management Systems knowledge to effectively appraise a manufacturing process for quality and safety risks and non-conformances.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject preferred. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
Minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing / quality experience required.
Preferably 3 years' experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Program Management role in the automotive industry or a similarly regulated industry.
