DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Student (School to Work- Supplier Development) to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Apply Academic Knowledge : Utilize your academic studies to support the Supplier Development department, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative solutions.
  • Interface with Multiple Departments : Collaborate with purchasing, program managers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure seamless communication and coordination across various functions.
  • Support Program Launches : Assist Supplier Development personnel in program meetings, technical reviews, and initiatives like APQP, PPAP, and CSI, contributing to successful program launches.
  • Monitor Supplier Performance : Keep a close eye on key suppliers' quality and delivery performance, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Facilitate Communication : Act as a liaison between program managers, buyers, quality, engineering, and supplier development teams to ensure supplier readiness for program launches.
  • Troubleshoot and Problem Solve : Use tools like 8D corrective action, 5-Why analysis, and statistical methods to assist in resolving issues within the North American supply base.
  • Conduct Site Visits : Perform supplier and Meritor site visits as needed to support supplier development and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Present Internal Projects : Complete and present an internal project to the Procurement Leadership Team, showcasing your contributions and insights gained during your term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Education/Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering; other equivalent engineering programs will be considered
  • Understanding of vehicular drive train components and their application

Additional Information

  • Demonstrated capability and knowledge of basic mathematics, sciences, and engineering principles
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Mini Tab preferred
