DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented School to Work - Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics) Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Hardware Verification & Testing: Conducting electrical hardware verification including power electronics, developing test plans, executing tests, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Circuit Analysis: Performing detailed circuit analysis using tools like LTspice, PSpice, and other simulation software to validate component behavior under worst-case conditions.
  • Power Electronics & High Voltage: Gaining hands-on experience with power electronics systems and high-voltage components. Ensuring compliance with high-voltage safety protocols while working with components such as inverters, converters, and electric drive systems.
  • Documentation: Preparing and maintaining engineering documents such as WCCA (Worst Case Circuit Analysis), HSIS (Hardware software Interface specification), and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), ensuring accurate and comprehensive engineering reports.
  • Setup & Build Support: Assisting in setting up and maintaining test benches, wiring schematics, and electrical systems required for hardware verification and component testing.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all lab safety protocols and industry standards are adhered to during the setup, testing, and documentation process.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborating with team members on hardware setup, electrical design, and test verification for product development.
  • Report Management : Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generation of test reports that meets with today's V-model structure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Electrical Engineering Tools Proficiency: Oscilloscopes, DMM, LCR, Function generator, DC loads and Power supplies, exposure to soldering.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with electrical design tools (LTspice, PSpice, Altium, OrCAD) for circuit simulation, PCB design, and schematic generation.
  • Circuit Analysis Expertise: Strong background in circuit analysis, including transient, steady-state, and worst-case analysis, to ensure that electrical components meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Power Electronics & High-Voltage Exposure: Familiarity or hands-on experience with power electronics and high-voltage systems. Awareness of safety procedures and best practices when handling high-voltage environments.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in documentation, circuit analysis, and test report generation, while adhering to engineering standards and processes.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage various projects simultaneously, adjusting to changing priorities and evolving requirements.
  • High-Voltage Safety & Compliance: Understanding of high-voltage safety protocols and industry standards, particularly in power electronics and electrical hardware testing.
  • Continuous Learning: Staying updated on the latest advancements in circuit design, simulation tools, and safety protocols in electrical engineering.

Education/Experience:

Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
