DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Sales Application Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for Cummins, Inc. in Shoreview, MN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Problem Resolution : Investigating integration and installation issues, understanding their root causes, recommending solutions, and owning problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Process Improvement : Supporting and enhancing processes like Installation Quality Assurance, OEM integration, and product selection and tools required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.
  • Team Collaboration : Working closely with Subject Matter Experts and VPI Teams to deliver accurate product data and installation requirements will ensure that Application Engineers and OEMs have the information they need for successful implementations.
  • Customer Relationships : Building strong relationships with customer technical counterparts to serve as their primary liaison to deliver product technical information, managing product specifications, communicating product change information, conducting installation issue resolutions and facilitate customer requests.
  • Product Expertise : Applying your in-depth knowledge of products, applications, and markets will help OEMs select the right products and design equipment that meets their needs.
  • Customer Advocacy : Translating customer needs into functional product requirements will ensure that products are correctly applied and installed, meeting customer system requirements and environments.
  • Quality Assurance : Validating prototype machine performance and ensuring installations meet Cummins requirements will maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
  • Complex Problem Solving : Owning the resolution of moderately complex issues will demonstrate your growing technical expertise and ability to handle increasing levels of complexity and ambiguity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Machine Integration and Optimization - Combine various parts or sub-systems to achieve the desired output for customers. Apply Cummins' installation requirements using standard tools, processes, and best practices to optimize performance, reliability, cost, and quality. Analyze technical issues using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques for rapid resolution.
  • Machine Operation and Support - Evaluate system operation by monitoring performance, addressing failures or performance concerns, and reacting to evolving user needs and technology changes. Proactively and systematically respond to operational issues to enhance user satisfaction and manage operational costs.
  • Product Application Support - Ensure new product information is available by developing and managing accurate and complete technical content in a timely manner. Define installation requirements and develop innovative tools with in-depth, cross-system knowledge and industry experience for successful design and integration.
  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis - Impact product design decisions by utilizing and interpreting computational tools and methods that predict a product's capability relative to its system, sub-system, and component level requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Entry level/Early career professional. Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area. Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • The position is in Sales Application Engineering (SAE) team and the ideal candidate will lead tasks more closely aligned with customer-facing activities and industry influencing which includes Global Application Engineering trainings, course development, customer-facing webinars, development and publication of white papers.
  • The candidate will also own the technical relationship with our internal Product management and Engineering teams and empowering them to better understand customer requirements and to deliver superior results.
  • Candidate will be expected to support global requests to address growing customer needs. This type of support will require gaining in-depth technical product knowledge relating to all our generator sets manufactured globally.
  • The candidate will function as a local subject matter expert (on at least one or two components).
  • The candidate will plan and drive activities for the assigned projects, manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status to leadership.
  • Must be self-driven and an individual contributor.
  • Consistently meets objectives and delivers quality work with some autonomy.
  • Seeking an Energized team player and who genuinely puts the customer first.
  • Advocates for our distributors and has potential as a future leader within Cummins.

Compensation

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
