We are looking for a talented Production Design Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Lakewood, NY.

Job Summary:

Utilizes advanced skills, knowledge, and experiences for creating and maintaining specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.

• Ensuring High-Quality Models and Drawings: By creating and checking complex models and drawings, you'll ensure they meet the highest quality standards.

• Maintaining Product Specifications: Utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, you'll create and maintain precise product specifications.

• Managing CAD Data: You'll use CAD data management tools to control configurations and maintain data security.

• Adhering to Standards: Ensuring compliance with company, industry, national, and international standards will be a key part of your role.

• Processing Engineering Requests: You'll efficiently handle internal engineering work requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

• Collaborating Across Functions: Engaging with various functional areas, you'll facilitate smooth and effective communication and collaboration.

• Mentoring and Training: By mentoring and training less experienced Product Designers, you'll help build a stronger, more capable team.

• Leading Quality Reviews: Participating in and leading Drawing Quality Reviews, you'll ensure that all drawings meet the required standards before release.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Competencies:

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Master CAD Modeling and Analysis: Create detailed CAD models that adhere to Cummins' standards, enabling system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.

• Understand Mechanical Systems: Develop a deep understanding of mechanical systems to design innovative and robust concepts that meet both Cummins' and customer expectations across all lifecycle stages.

• Create Accurate Specifications: Produce comprehensive specifications, including solid models, engineering bills of materials, and detailed drawings, ensuring they meet national, international, industry, and Cummins' standards.

• Manage Product Configuration and Changes: Establish and maintain product baselines, effectively manage changes from concept to obsolescence, and ensure clear communication throughout the process.

• Communicate Effectively: Develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications tailored to the needs of different audiences, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

• Make Quality Decisions: Make timely and well-informed decisions that keep projects moving forward and contribute to the organization's success.

• Drive Results: Consistently achieve high-quality results, even in challenging circumstances, demonstrating reliability and effectiveness.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

• Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrate project management skills (Manage various data streams of information)

• Demonstrate Microsoft Excel skills with awareness of VBA scripts

• Demonstrate organizational skills with focus on computer file management

• Demonstrate ability to work under flexible conditions with changing product schedules

• Demonstrate ability to prioritize critical path items and recognize calibration concerns

• Knowledge of Calterm and calibration structure is preferred
